Greetings Lineage PTS players! The test server will be brought down at 4:30pm CST / 5:30pm EST / 10:30pm GMT for maintenance and an update. Downtime is expected to be less than one hour. The test server will be the only server that is brought down today.

PTS Patch Notes - 12/15/08

• Haunted House Manager Duo's dialogue has been updated to correctly reflect how the rewards for the HH work.
  • 1-3 participants will reward the winner with a Bronze Pumpkin of a Brave Man.
  • 4-6 participants will reward the winner with a Silver Pumpkin of a Brave Man.
  • 7-10 participants will reward the winner with a Gold Pumpkin of a Brave Man.
• The profanity filter has been updated.
• On the 4th floor of Lastavard, all text that was in Korean has been translated.
• Several Mac Client fixes have been made:
  • MAC - NPC test will now appear in white, not red.
  • MAC - F1-F3 commands will now work when there is chat in the text window.
  • MAC - Music slider now functions properly.
  • MAC - Spell casting icons had a graphical glitch that has been corrected.

Dear GM,

How come after the event, the test server is having constant lagging.

I have asked several people that it is not just me experiencing this problem.

Do you think you can fix it?:(

Any more updates coming for this episode? If so... what are they and when?

Also are any of the items like pumpkin armor and pumpkin swords tradable?

Would it be possible to make all pumpkins weight 0?

This is a pain for any1 who doesn't have big carry capacity. You can't store the items you get from pumpkins and they weight a lot. So you end up heavy because of pumpkins or because of the items you get (armor and sword).

It would be nice to be able to keep all your pumpkins and open them at the end of event. :D

(While we appreciate your feedback about what items you would like to see in the event, it is unlikely that we will be making any major item changes at this time)

One year ago, tragedy befell a small Pumpkin Village. The village was preparing to celebrate their annual Fall Festival when they heard a huge explosion! Thick black smoke covered the small village and there were ominous black clouds in the sky. This event marked the beginning of the destruction of Pumpkin Village by an evil turkey lord and his minions. Now the turkey lord has Aden on his mind and he is headed to our lands to try and take it over!

You will need to help stop the turkey lord’s evil plans by destroying him and his henchmen before they can take over Aden! You will be rewarded for your efforts and can collect pumpkin seeds from killing the henchmen which can be turned in for Bronze, Silver, or Gold pumpkins! Opening a pumpkin will give you one of many rewards.

Gold pumpkins can contain Pumpkin Armor or a Pumpkin Sword among other nice prizes. These two items are very special! They both can be safely enchanted to +6. These items will vanish forever once the turkey lord and his minions have been vanquished so in order to safely keep them, you must get them enchanted to at least +8. Silver pumpkins can contain a Pumpkin Hat which can morph you into a scarecrow! This hat will also not stick around like the other pumpkin items but it can create pumpkin pie that will last! Bronze pumpkins will have several consumable prizes inside. Be sure to collect as many pumpkin seeds as you can since the fancier pumpkins will cost more seeds! In addition to seeds, the minions will have foods from the harvest that they stole from Pumpkin Village. These foods will be quite delicious indeed!

Almost forgot this before, but was wondering if the spawn of the Giant Soldier Ants is correct in the desert for test server? Noticed this first time few days back when was looking for the Demon Temple for the spying quest and ran into screen full of GSA packs.

So went back just moment ago to check if it was only some momentary glitch, but found same kind of GSA overrun. I attach some images just so you can see how it is in that part of desert. Maybe that is something normal nowadays tho as it's been a while for me to hunt there, but surely seemed like a lots of GSA for me O_o

I had 5 in inentory on one of my characters. I get another one today and now I only have one. Is this a bug or is there a limit to how many you can collect? Or, is there a time limit on how long you can keep them or something like that?

Sooooo, here is the question that everyone has on their minds, and im hoping we get some sort of an answer... you know those suspicious merchants in gypsy town that will only sell you stuff from them using feathers?

There are still some issues with the mac update:

• Links will highlight when they are moused over.

The highlight color is dark red, what makes it really hard to read with window transparency enabled.
(I think its green on windows?)

• An environmental sound slider has been added to the Game Options menu.

The environmental sound loop is out of sync. There is a pause in the loop.


Edit: Almost ALL npc texts are red now. Please make em white again.

Anyone else play around in this area? I found a bug that causes the mac client to crash.
Stepping on an area with a tall spire causes an immediate crash.
Anyone else experience this?

How is destroys damage in pvp? Was it nerfed?

In each of the new tos and the cave of desires is a spy who offers you a contract. Accepting it and completing the quest (new job may be obtained every 24hrs) gives you 30?karma of the appropriate side. The problem is, if you make mistake and take the wrong one, I can find no way to get rid of that contract and pick up the other. The contract can not bediscarded or deleted, and you may only have contract from one side. Is this a bug or intentional, and is there something I'm missing to get changed? Please give information or fix this if it is a bug.

Can you double check if the Two Handed Sword swing speed currently on test is correct or not...?

It feels like either a huge joke, or a huge bug...
It can not be intended to be this way.

They are soooo slow that auto swing does not even work with them. They swing like once each 2 seconds..

You think Monica is upset now, wait till he gets to swinging his stun sword after this.

Last night I had just begain to level a mage when I came across a guard and he teleported me out to Talking Island. Problem is he was only level 1 when this happened. This also happened to a knight I was leveling also but he was level 6 when it happened.

The following changes were made to the Public Test Server on 15/10/2008:

• The blank text window bug with Dudamar Buwoo in the Orc Fortress is fixed.
• The blank text window bug with Elder Nanome in the Orc Fortress is fixed.
• The blank text window bug with Vakuma in the Contaminated Land of Blessing is fixed.
• Bears now drop ‘Bear Meat’.
• The spelling of ‘Lastbad’ has been corrected to ‘Lastvard’.
• Misleading information in the Perita and Rumtis chain quests (Black Earrings quests) has been fixed.
• Several Mac client music changes have been made, although there are still some differences.
• Animated character selection screens have been enabled for the mac client.
• Spell duration timers on the Mac client now work closer to how they should.
• The KillGlance Ring glows white for a short while.

Thread/Post Content

1. Post in the correct forum and do not cross-post.

If you are unsure of where to place a post, choose the single most appropriate forum. No need to cross-post to multiple forums – we’ll see the post no matter where you place it. If you cross post, or spam the forum, your posts will be removed and you will be contacted for violating the forum rules.

2. Keep feedback constructive.

All feedback on the game is appreciated as long as it is constructive. Keep it straightforward and include examples and facts when applicable. For example, “This game is ****!” or “This game is dying!” is not constructive feedback. “I am way annoyed with the following things about the game and here’s why…” is constructive and useful to us. The best way to get your opinions recognized is not to be abusive or offensive, but to be constructive and communicate in a mature fashion.

"I'm leaving" threads are removed due to the inevitable flaming that immediately ensues. They are thus no more than troll threads. We welcome constructive feedback and are always sorry when a customer is unhappy. If you wish to say your goodbyes please inform your friends with the PM feature.

"NERF X!" threads are removed for much the same reason as "I'm leaving" threads. They immediately turn into flame threads with little or no constructive information.

No ranting. Ranting is posting irate, unconstructive (usually vague) comments to "blow off steam." This is considered a form of trolling since ranting does little but end up in flame wars.

False obituary threads are considered trolling of the highest order, and knowingly posting false news of a player’s real-life death may result in banning of both your forum account and your game account.


3. Keep feedback high-quality.

Please avoid frivolous and duplicate postings. Threads to announce that the servers are up (after a downtime), for example, or threads made just because you want to be the “first post” in a newly created section of the board, are not quality postings and cause us extra work to remove.

Avoid posting random and off-topic conversation in the General Discussion forum. Off-topic threads/posts will be removed without notice or explanation. Do not "threadjack" someone else's thread. Make sure your posts are in line with the original poster's subject matter.

4. Know the search function. Use the search function.

Before you ask a question, please review the message boards. This is especially true if you are new player, since many of the basic questions are going to be covered. If your answer is not there, please use the “Search” function located at the top of every page of the boards. (Note: You may want to change the search option so it extends past one week.) Your question may have already been asked and answered elsewhere on the forums.

5. Read before you post.

Development and publishing staff may be posting to several threads on this board, often with explicit information. Before posting check News & Announcements. Before adding a post to a thread, please review the entire thread to be sure that the question you are about to ask hasn’t already been answered.

6. Hosting your own images.

You will find that we do not host screenshots, signature pictures, or other images on this message board. You are more than welcome to link to images hosted in other places (like on your own personal website), as long as they are of an appropriate and non-offensive nature. Avatar icons are allowed as long as the image is no larger than 100 by 100 pixels in size. Links to images that are inappropriate will be removed immediately and you will be contacted for breaking the forum rules. Images that are obscene, vulgar, references to bodily functions or body parts are also forbidden. Words that would be censored by our bad word filter are not allowed in images either. Finally, copyrighted images are also forbidden.

Here is a general rule of thumb to go by: If the subject matter you want to use goes beyond the content you would *normally* see in a TEEN rated game, please don't use it. Also, if you think an image is borderline, odds are it is indeed inappropriate material.

Signature images are to be no larger than 500 pixels wide by 150 pixels tall. If we find that people are abusing this, we may disable all signature images completely. Forum rules apply all images posted.

General Conduct

1. Abuse will not be tolerated.

No flaming, trolling, harassing, profanity, abusive language or abbreviations, personal attacks, racial, religious, ethnic, or sexual slurs. This applies to both “public” threads and private messages. Do not link out from a post or private message to these types of content.

Flaming is defined as attacking others in harsh, personal terms.

Trolling is defined as deliberately posting derogatory, inflammatory comments/threads in order to bait other users into responding.

Personal attacks include, but are not limited to insulting a poster directly:

EX: “You are stupid, you suck, and you should [censored].”

Directly (or indirectly) attacking another poster will result in a warning. If the behavior persists, you will be banned.

You are allowed to disagree with others, but players and staff members alike should be treated with respect at all times. Convey your thoughts without getting rude.

2. No character assassination threads

Threads that single out a player for ridicule or to accuse someone of actions in-game will be removed without notice. Repeatedly targeting another person is considered ongoing harassment and is a severe violation of the forum rules. In-game violations need to be reported via the appropriate channels, such as email support. If you believe that the support system has not provided a sufficient or timely response, you may submit an inquiry to members of the forum staff via PM. Public posts of such accusations will be construed as attempts to cause antagonism for its own sake.

No personal attacks against forum moderators or game developers. If you disagree with an action taken by a moderator, you can send your complaint via PM to the moderator where it will be reviewed. Abuse of the devs or moderators (including in PM) is likely to result in an immediate, permanent ban from the message boards, and can result in the suspension of your game account.


3. No spamming or thread bumping.

There are no circumstances under which spamming or thread bumping is acceptable. If you ask a question on the board (not answerable by the Customer Service Knowledge Base) and it hasn’t been addressed by a moderator, there is a reason for that (or there is not an answer currently available). Bumping or spamming will not make the answer appear any faster, so please refrain from doing it. This includes, but is not limited to: comments not contributing to the board, advertisements, cross posts, and messages posted repeatedly.

4. No “Petitioning.”

Do not create threads/posts to “petition” for game features, additions, changes, or other issues. You may post suggestions and/or ideas to the boards, but you may not create a ‘petition’ for others to sign. This is bumping in disguise and will not be allowed.

5. No “I Demand Answers” threads

Threads that make threats or use other combative language will be removed without notice. If you ask a question on the board and it has not been addressed by a moderator, there is a reason for that (or there is not an answer currently available). In the event of legitimate emergencies, or other unprecedented scenarios, we will endeavor to provide comments, even if it is only to state that there is no officially available information. However, this is not always possible.

6. Censorship Posts.

All posts referring to message board censorship will be removed. All message board content is allowed/removed at the discretion of NCsoft. These posts will be removed and the poster warned. Any further posts will be removed, and the poster will be banned from the message boards. Also, working around a ban to continue posting is also prohibited and may incur an extension of a current ban.

Threads designed to announce, appeal or contest a forum or game banning decision on behalf of a third party will be removed without notice.

No personal attacks against forum moderators. If you disagree with an action taken by a moderator, you can send your complaint via PM to Lyzira where it will be reviewed.

7. No account hopping to evade suspension.

You are personally responsible for your conduct on the forums. If you create a new account to continue posting because another account was suspended, any forum accounts involved will be permanently suspended. Forum and/or game bans apply to a person, not specifically an account. Please do not let others post under your account. You are directly responsible for any and all posts made under your account.

8. No proxy posting.

Posting on behalf of a suspended user is not allowed.

9. No Conspiracy Threads.

Threads that make groundless claims about NCsoft or any of its employees acting in collusion with or granting favoritism to any group or player will be removed without notice.

10. Bad Word Filter.

NCsoft message boards have a bad word filter. NCsoft’s games are rated Teen and is therefore censored for language. Any attempt to circumvent this filter will not be tolerated including posting avatars, forum names or signatures that contain a word that is censored by the bad word filter.

11. Respect the opinions of others.

Often times arguments can’t be won, so if you have a contrasting opinion, please state it simply and clearly. If necessary, agree to disagree with others who may have differing opinions. When discussions turn to long, hostile arguments, the thread will be closed or removed.

Also, do not dismiss other players by calling them “whiners”, “fanbois”, or other derogatory terms, or suggesting that they “just quit”. This is NOT constructive.

12. No “Compare and Contrast” threads.

The official forums are intended solely for discussion of Lineage. Any thread whose primary purpose is the discussion of another game (whether published by NCsoft or not) will be removed, whether it is in the context of “comparing” it to Lineage or not. Incidental comparisons will arise from time to time. This is understood and acceptable. However, it is when a thread becomes primarily about such comparisons that the thread will be removed.

13. No Rule Circumvention threads.

Any thread we feel is trying to find some loophole to get away with disobeying the rules of the forums, in fact or in spirit, will be removed.

14. No Legal Action threads.

Using the forums or PMs for encouraging, promoting, endorsing, or inciting any kind of legal action against anyone is strictly prohibited. Such content will be removed, and the author's posting privileges will be permanently suspended.

15. Posting Information Covered by an NDA

DO NOT post ANY information on these boards that refers to any information covered by a game’s NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) for their Alpha/Beta tests. Any info about a game covered by an NDA that is posted will be removed and the poster will be banned from the forums. FURTHER - if the game is an NCsoft game beta the post will be removed, and your account of the NCsoft beta of which you broke the NDA will be closed. You may also be unable to participate in any further NCsoft Beta programs and/or be removed from all other current NCsoft beta programs.

16. Official Threads

Official threads are any thread started by a red name that has the words “official thread” or “dev response” in the title. These may have special instructions in the original post. Please review the original post and follow any instructions given. Further, if there is an Official Thread about a topic, please do not post other threads about this topic. Instead, post your comments only in the official thread. Posts about an Official Topic will be removed without notice.

It is very important to us to maintain a system of forums that allow new and veteran players alike to address concerns to the company as well as help each other. To do this, a certain amount of decorum and civility is required. We reserve the right to update these rules as necessary, so please take the time to review them on a regular basis.

17. User Agreement Violations.

Any post or thread in which a player admits to violating the User Agreement, encourages others to violate the User Agreement, or violates the User Agreement itself will be removed and the message board account will be banned without warning. Please be aware that action can also be taken against the game account.

18. Bot Posts and the Bot Thread

Due to the inevitably circular nature of these topics and the comments we have made in the past, posts of this type are not sufficiently constructive and many repetitive posts on these issues are crowding out legitimate discussion topics. These repetitive topics will be locked or removed. Please use the Bot Thread to relay your concerns on this issue.

*NEVER "call out" botters on the forums. All bot reports should go directly to our in-game support staff.

I am asking if there is any idea of when we might get our next publish installed to test server?

The drop update removed items needed for cooking. Pumpkin seeds and bear meat are the 2 I have noticed missing for sure.

The text update missed several important NPC's needed to travel to new areas.

There are many areas that still do not have the map name (bottom left corner).

The PI Boat Ticket NPC still has incorrect time but it is much closer than before. (I have not checked other boat times.)

I found this place this morning.

You gain entry by talking to Explorer's Assistant (loc: 32852,32799) Just up and left of Dread Pirate Fort.

Once inside you can not use escape scroll to leave this area (it only returns you to start point). You must collect "Ash of Sailor" and trade Aldran (loc:32845,32649) for "
Withering Soul" that you must use in the small circle next to him. The soul teleports you near another larger circle that if you stand inside sends you back to Pirate Island Village.

Down and to the left of start is Beheak (loc:32833,32695). He sells potions and "Glue". You will need glue to repair a logbook for Rotting Voyager(loc:32756,32851). As i have not compleated my logbook yet i dont know what he gives you for it.

I wondered around in the area. The Drowned Female casts(spits) something at you and you stop moving(bind). You can still cast and fight, cant move.
Most of the mops appear to be undead, but turning them can be difficult. It appears mop MR is high.
