Episode 8

US: Server Publish 9th July 2001

Episode Eight introduces the Land of Giran, located to the north of Kent Castle. This land is approximately the same size as Gludio Estate. The Giran update has tentatively been scheduled for US release on July 9th and will be confirmed as we move closer to the release. Additional details on methods of obtaining the update will be provided as soon as possible.

Some points of interest in Giran include:

The Marketplace. Located in Giran Village, the marketplace allows players to create many items previously available only on monsters, such as t-shirts, cloaks of magic resistance, cloaks of protection, iron visors, iron platemail, iron shields, iron gloves, iron boots, etc.
The Dog Race Track. The dog race track is located in the southeast corner of Giran Village and is an extended version of the famous slime races.
The Colosseum. An extended version of Tournament, requiring a ticket to attend. PLEASE NOTE: If attending the colosseum, any tamed monsters (including dogs) will not follow you inside, and these monsters will be regarded as ownerless.
Giran Castle. This newest castle has two outer gates, three inner gates, and one castle house door.
Giran Dungeon. This four-level dungeon is home to orc zombies, dark elves, owlbears, slimes, and more.

Part 1: Safe House System

The Safe House system provides a home location for bloodpledges not currently occupying castles. Prince or Princesses of level 15 or higher may purchase a safe house by participating in an auction via the bulletin board located in the Giran Village Square. There are 45 total safe houses available. Please note: a Prince or Princess who currently owns a safe house may not participate in a siege unless they first sell the house.

Safe houses are run by NPCs who manage each safe house. Members of the bloodpledge controlling the house may stay in rooms in the house to fill HP and MP. Bloodpledge members may also use "scrolls of teleportation home" to return to the safe house. They will also restart (after a death) in their safe house. Safehouse owners must pay taxes to the Lord of Giran Castle.

Part 2: Taming Changes

The number of dogs or tamed monsters that may accompany any player will be based on the following equation: (Number of dogs * 3) + number of tamed monsters <= Charisma/2.

Thus, a character with 12 Charisma may travel with two dogs (2*3+0=6, which is = 12/2), or one dog and three monsters (1*3+3=6, which is = 12/2). A character with 18 Charisma may travel with three dogs.

The following changes have been made to dog collars:

Dog collars disappear when dogs die and are not resurrected.
Double-clicking on your dog collar after a server reset will allow you to immediately retrieve dogs.
Dogs (dog collars) may only be transferred between players when the dogs are in a storage facility.

Part 3: Additional Changes

Weight of Adena has been changed to 0.
The Nerupa dungeon map has been slightly modified.
Players who die in the Elves Forest dungeon will now restart at the Waste Village.
Lyra will always offer contracts.
Rangers have been added to the game world. Rangers travel freely around the world, and are similar to town guards.
A bug has been fixed that kept players from finding their dogs even when dog collars were adjusted.
Ungoliants and shelobs will no longer appear in the forest between Silver-Knight Village and Gludio.
A dueling zone is now available at the entrance of the dungeon where Nerupa is located.
A bug that changed wands of blink to oak wands has been fixed.
A bug that caused dogs not to return items when stored has been fixed.
A bug that caused spartoi to die without giving experience or items has been fixed.
Castle taxes have been adjusted for game balance.
Pledge leaders may no longer have multiple pledges.
The auto-repair of castle gates has been fixed.
Several bugs affecting Dupelgenon have been fixed.

Patch 1: 19th July 2001

We will be bringing the Lineage US servers down for a brief update on Thursday, July 19th at 10:00 AM CDT. Total downtime for this update is expected to be approximately 30 minutes. As this update will require a server restart, we urge that you store any dogs before logging out of the game. The update contains the following fixes:

Any player attacking a dog, regardless of the dog location, will ‘go pink’ (take a negative reputation count.)
Area effect spells will affect dogs if the dogs are chaotic. (Depardieu server only
When selling to vendors, players will now receive a message if they have no inventory items that may be sold.

Additionally, the Doberman spawn issue on Depardieu will be resolved at this time. Doberman spawn on the Ken Rahuel server is currently operating as normal.

Patch 2: 20th July 2001

We have noticed many customers experiencing disconnects from both game servers due to issues with the latest game update. As a result, we have determined it necessary to remove the update from the game servers to allow us to further investigate the code changes. We will be bringing the Lineage servers down at 5:00 PM CDT on Friday, July 19th to remove the update from the servers.

Please note that this does mean that the changes pertaining to dogs (area effect spells and attacking dogs) will be removed and you should adjust your playstyle accordingly.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are working to resolve the issues and restore the update to the servers as quickly as possible.

Patch 3: 22nd August 2001

Lineage: Dark Conquest (AKA The Cross Rancor)

Episode 1: Light and Shadows

Dark Conquest: Episode 1 - Light & Shadows

Lineage: Dark Conquest, Episode 1: Light and Shadows was published on the US Lineage servers on Wednesday, September 17th at 10:00 AM CDT.

Dark Conquest: Episode 1 included the following:

Dark Elves

  • Addition of the new Dark Elf class. The Dark Elf is a master of assassination, with a basic dexterity and magical powers similar to Elves, and attack strength greater than many Knights. However, the Dark Elf defensive capabilities are only somewhat higher than a Wizard, and they are incapable of wielding many commonly-known two-handed weapons, instead specializing mainly in an arsenal known only to their own kind. Dark Elves have a nature that instinctively prefers darkness to light, so they take shelter and build their homes in caves, and have developed a unique Dark Elf “infravision” to allow them to see more clearly at night and in dark areas.
  • Addition of the new Silent Cavern area, which includes the Silent Cavern Village, Silence Ground, and the Elder Room. This area includes several new NPCs:
    • Enya – Dark Elf Teleporter NPC who will teleport lower-level Dark Elves to Hidden Valley; the Dark Elf Karen in Hidden Valley will teleport lower-level Dark Elves back to Silent Cavern Village.
    • Hadesty – Dark Elf Healer NPC who will provide healing services in exchange for a Dark Stone.
    • Rayearth – Dark Elf Storage NPC who functions as the “storage dwarf” for the Silent Cavern area. You must be at least Level 5 to store/retrieve items; retrieval cost per item is 30 adena.
    • Sedia – Dark Elf Mage NPC who instructs Dark Elves in the ways of basic shared magic. Dark Elves can learn Level 1 “common” magic at Level 12, and Level 2 “common” magic at Level 24.
    • Squalid – Dark Elf Merchant NPC who sells basic supplies, such as scrolls, potions, arrows, etc., as well as weapons unique to the Dark Elf class, such as Edoryu, Claws, Throwing Knives, and Gauntlets.
    • Koup – Dwarven Blacksmith NPC who assists in the crafting of items unique to the Dark Elf class.
  • Addition of the new Dark Elf item crafting system. Dark Elves will need to bring certain crafting ingredients to Koup in Silent Cavern in order to create several different weapons unique to the Dark Elf class. The Bring Stone, obtained from monsters in Silence Ground, is the basis for the Dark Elf item crafting system. The Bring Stone is refined by use of the Level 1 Dark Spirit Magic spell Purify Stone into the Dark Stone, which is further refined into the Brave Stone, which is further refined into the Wise Stone, which is further refined into the Kaiser Stone; at this time, Koup will only require the Dark, Brave and Wise Stones for crafting.
  • Addition of many new Dark Elf-specific weapons and armor.
  • Addition of the Level 15, Level 30 and Level 45 Dark Elf Quests:
    • Please note: Speaking to each NPC involved in each quest is imperative to complete each quest.
    • To begin the Level 15 Dark Elf Quest, speak to Kan in Silent Cavern. The rewards for completing this quest are the Shadow Mask (safely enchantable to +6) and the Dark Spirit Crystal (Purify Stone).
    • To begin the Level 30 Dark Elf Quest, speak to Ronde in Silent Cavern; you must have completed the Level 15 Dark Elf Quest before you can begin this quest. The rewards for completing this quest are the Shadow Gloves (safely enchantable to +6) and the Dark Spirit Crystal (Moving Acceleration).
    • To begin the Level 45 Dark Elf Quest, speak to Bludika in the Elder Room in Silent Cavern; you must have completed the Level 15 and Level 30 Dark Elf Quests before you can begin this quest. The Level 45 “Assassin” morph, required for this quest, has been added to the polymorph options list. The rewards for completing this quest are the Shadow Boots (safely enchantable to +4) and the Dark Spirit Crystal (Uncanny Dodge).
  • Addition of the new Dark Elf Spirit Magic. Dark Spirit Magic is a line of magic unique to the Dark Elves, containing three different levels of spells; Dark Elves can learn one level of Dark Spirit Magic for every 15 character levels. Dark Spirit Crystals function as spellbooks for Dark Elves and can be learned at any location, provided that the Dark Elf meets the level requirement to learn the spell. Certain Dark Spirit Magic will require the use of Dark Stones as a magical ingredient; Dark Stones can be obtained by using the Level 1 Dark Spirit Magic spell Purify Stone on a Bring Stone.

Miscellaneous

  • Addition of a fourth character slot to the Character Selection screen and updated Character Selection, Character Creation, Logo and Login screens.
  • Addition of the Island of Dreams. To travel to the Island of Dreams, speak to Edlin in Gypsy Town, who will charge 1000 adena to transport your character. The area of Gypsy Town has been changed to a Safety Zone. Characters restarting on Dream Island will reappear in Gypsy Town. There is no experience loss upon death while on the Island of Dreams; accordingly, experience gain on Dream Island is reduced. Teleportation scrolls and teleportation spells cannot be used while on the Island of Dreams.
  • Addition of elixirs capable of permanently increasing character stats. There are six different elixirs, one for each character stat: Elixir (STR), Elixir (CON), Elixir (INT), Elixir (WIS), Elixir (CHA), and Elixir (DEX). Elixirs cannot be dropped nor traded nor stored, but can be deleted. Characters will only be able to use a maximum of five elixirs per character and will not be able to use elixirs to increase their base stats beyond 25.
  • The Tower of Insolence has been expanded up to the 50th floor. This area has changed dramatically in the types of monster spawn, monster difficulty levels, and monster behavior, so please exercise caution when exploring familiar TOI areas. Several new items have been added as possible drops from TOI monsters, including Teleport Charms, Teleport Scrolls to specific floors in the Tower of Insolence, and the Ring of Zenith.
  • Characters restarting in the Tower of Insolence will now reappear on the first floor of the Tower instead of in Aden City.
  • Hit Point (HP) and Mana Point (MP) regeneration rates have been increased within the inner castle areas of Kent, Windawood, Giran, Heine, and Aden.
  • Bulletin boards have been added to all inner castle areas.
  • Characters restarting in the Temple of Eva will now reappear in Heine instead of Talking Island.
  • Summoned creatures dismissed while out of range of the owner will drop any carried items to the ground.
  • All classes capable of learning basic “common” magic can now learn these spells from either Gereng on Talking Island or Horun in Dragon Valley.
  • Added Help and Game Tip message pop-up windows. As characters level up, they will receive a Game Tip pop-up message which gives in-game information relative to their class; as players log in to the game, they will receive a Game Tip pop-up window. These windows can be disabled by using the check box on the message to disable tips on start up; to re-enable these windows, go into Game Options and click on Game Tip, which will display the dialogue box with a check box to re-enable.

Episode 3: Life & Death

Dark Conquest: Episode 3 - Life & Death

Diad Underground

  • Added Diad Fortress and several new related NPCs and monsters. Entrance to the fortress area is located on the third floor of the Lastabad Dungeon, and characters restarting outside of the Diad Fortress gates will reappear in the Oum village inside of the Oum Dungeon; characters restarting inside of the Diad Fortress gates or in the Diad Siege Zone will reappear at the exit to the third floor of the Lastabad Dungeon. To siege the fortress when held by NPCs: Talk to the Aden Reconnaissance Soldier NPC located near the exit to the third floor of the Lastabad Dungeon. Once the siege has been declared, all three fortress gates must be destroyed simultaneously to gain entrance to the Diad Fortress; once one gate is down to 20% of its HP, all three gates must be completely destroyed within 15 seconds, or all three gates will regenerate to 50% and the timer resets – attacking only one or two gates will result in 50% gate HP regeneration when the gate reaches 0 HP, gates cannot be broken down individually. Once inside the Diad Fortress, to successfully take the fortress, Baranka and Laia must be defeated and the Fortress Guardian Tower destroyed. To siege the fortress when held by PCs: Players cannot siege the Diad Fortress when it’s owned by other players; however, Fortress Lastabad NPCs will spawn around the Fortress Guardian Tower during siege time and attack the tower. If the Fortress Lastabad destroy the tower, the siege ends and the fortress is then held by the NPCs.

  • Added Oum Dungeon and several new related NPCs and monsters. Entrance to the dungeon area is located southwest and outside of the Diad Fortress gates, and characters restarting in the dungeon will reappear in the Oum village inside of the dungeon. Please Note! Str now lasts for 10 minutes but costs 2x the mp.

    Here is some more info:

    • Cancel now works off Magic resist; with 5x mr it took most mages 3 or 4 tries untill they could cancel me.
    • Dark elfs have totally been nerphed i dont know wat totally changed but i think its that they do alot less critcal hits <3... this is one thing i thought was really unfair and it looks like NC has finally changed it TY NC!!. Knights we finally have a chance at dueling Dark Elfs ^^.!
    • There is also no more delay on b2s. One of my elf freinds said that now alot of elf spells need spirit gems to use them.
    • I think they buffed up ifrit and drakes again... They hit hard this morning when i fought them; I'll test this more to find out!

    Lineage: U

Lineage U is the 3rd Chronical of the Lineage saga. Currently in testing in Korea, and based solely on player feedback, this proves to be one of the most interesting updates to Lineage we've seen in many years.

    Korea: Episode U - Horse Update 4th Sept 07

One of the old news I am updating you guys about.
Since Episode U is suppose to be satisfying player's desire, a few updates/explanations was made to the horse riding feature in September 2007.

    Explanations and Updates:
Helmet Types: will have more variety in the future
Casting Magic: due to the balance of the classes, this will not change. In the future, players will see more features.
Class Restriction: Royals should be the only class able to use it since they are the leaders of the game.
Types of Horses: Since more varieties of helmets will be releases, the features and power of the horses will be different in the future.
Prices: Will be different depending on the type of helmets but right now its 1000k (1Mil) for 50 use (20k/use)
Weapon: Spears was the basic idea for the only weapon for using the horses but certainly changes will be made in the future
Shield restriction: due to the fact that shield is not usable, LKR has decided to make the helmts +6

Korea: Episode U - New Gludin Fishing System

As promised, I will try to keep you all updated on Episode U but it'll be difficult for me to translate everything. So here's my plan, IF new articles don't come in often, I will 3 things from the promised list. =)

Now here's a guide to the fishing system.....
Located at 9:00 of Gludin, there's a NPC that sents players to the fishing zone along with renting fishing rods and selling baits.

There are two different types of rods, a light and heavy time. The light type can be used for close range and able to wheel fast. The heavy type is for long range. Both rods costs 1k for rent fees.

In the fishing zone, players can purchase baits through a NPC. Cost is 57 for 1, 4.6k. for 100.

    Procedure to fishing:
    1. Position yourself near the lake.
    2. Double click on rod
    3. Click on the area that you want to fish at.

    4. A floating thing will appear, the red is yours and the yellows are other players.
    5. When the floater sinks, click on the floater to wheel it in.
    6. The item will appear, click F4 to pick it up (others can't pick it up)

Things caught from fishing: small fish, big fish, carp, eel, trout, unique turtle, glowing fish (white, blue, red, green) and a special class of armors filled with water (earrings, ammy, rings, boots, armor, cloak, helmet, gloves and shield)

For the Armors, a NPC will be in the fishing zone for players to repairs the armors for use. As for the fish, the current use is unknown. (maybe cooking)

Update: The set bonus for the armor is total of -10ac, +100HP and +10 Fire Resist. As for the rings are +5mp and +3mp Regen. The Amulet is +10HP and +? HP Regen. The earrings are -1ac.

Player's Comment: Fishing zone is too crowded and the space is too small.

Note: The accuracy of the translation is not guaranteed and I apologize in advance if i miss something. Thank you for your considerations.

Korea: Episode U - New Gludin Fortune System

    This was publish on KTS.

As you all might have heard of, the new Gludin has a Fortune Telling NPC. This NPC will tell your fortune and transform you to a monster. Now, this is not any ordinary NPC on the morph list, its something different.

    Here's the step:
    1. Talk to NPC located in Gludin and receive a special bottle.

    2. Click on the bottle to obtain the jade
    3. Use jade + 3k to obtain a Fortune Teller's scroll
    4. Give the scroll to Fortune Teller to get blessing from him.

Restrictions: Once per day (don't know if its 1 Lin Day or 24hrs) and effect last for 1 hr
The morph list are as follows:
Tiger, Unicorn, Dopleganger, Lich, Dojo Dog (new pet) and more to be discovered.

Note: LineageOne does not guarantee 100% on these articles nor does the sources. I apologize for any mistakes that I might have made and accept any comments to help me improve the quality /readability of the articles. Thanks.

So This is the last one for this week. More coming up....

Korea: Episode U - New Gludin Ghost House

The ghost house is actually a mini-game in Lineage. The house is located in the New Gludin Area. The objective of the game is to destroy the Ghost Fire Tower within the maze.
    HERE's the NPC:

    Here's how the game works:
    1. Players are transformed into Jack O' Lantern

    2. Their MP will become 0 while HP will be increased.
    3. Players will have to run through the maze. Watch out, there are traps inside which slows you down

    4. Once you find the ghost fire tower, destroy it.

    5. Within 5 Minute, if no one destroys it, there will be no winner.

    Prize:
    1. A pumpkin bag which contains random items including the Skele Cup which is a component to a special status.

Sources: In my Lineage/ Lineage PF

Note: LineageOne does not guarantee that this translation is 100% correct and I apologize if i miss anything

P.S.: I will research on the "special status" and get back to everyone.

Korea: Episode U - New Gludin Pet Fighting

Okay.. so i got something wrong about the pet racing... its not pet racing.. its actually Pet vs Pet

As you know... PVP is part of the game so NC made Pet v Pet... and its being test on KTS.

Here is how the system work:
    1. Talk to NPC at Gludin

    2. Select Pet for fighting, the pets must be within 5 levels of the opponent's pet
