Episode 1: Light and Shadows
Dark Conquest: Episode 1 - Light & Shadows
Lineage: Dark Conquest, Episode 1: Light and Shadows was published on the US Lineage servers on Wednesday, September 17th at 10:00 AM CDT.
Dark Conquest: Episode 1 included the following:
Dark Elves
- Addition of the new Dark Elf class. The Dark Elf is a master of assassination, with a basic dexterity and magical powers similar to Elves, and attack strength greater than many Knights. However, the Dark Elf defensive capabilities are only somewhat higher than a Wizard, and they are incapable of wielding many commonly-known two-handed weapons, instead specializing mainly in an arsenal known only to their own kind. Dark Elves have a nature that instinctively prefers darkness to light, so they take shelter and build their homes in caves, and have developed a unique Dark Elf “infravision” to allow them to see more clearly at night and in dark areas.
- Addition of the new Silent Cavern area, which includes the Silent Cavern Village, Silence Ground, and the Elder Room. This area includes several new NPCs:
- Enya – Dark Elf Teleporter NPC who will teleport lower-level Dark Elves to Hidden Valley; the Dark Elf Karen in Hidden Valley will teleport lower-level Dark Elves back to Silent Cavern Village.
- Hadesty – Dark Elf Healer NPC who will provide healing services in exchange for a Dark Stone.
- Rayearth – Dark Elf Storage NPC who functions as the “storage dwarf” for the Silent Cavern area. You must be at least Level 5 to store/retrieve items; retrieval cost per item is 30 adena.
- Sedia – Dark Elf Mage NPC who instructs Dark Elves in the ways of basic shared magic. Dark Elves can learn Level 1 “common” magic at Level 12, and Level 2 “common” magic at Level 24.
- Squalid – Dark Elf Merchant NPC who sells basic supplies, such as scrolls, potions, arrows, etc., as well as weapons unique to the Dark Elf class, such as Edoryu, Claws, Throwing Knives, and Gauntlets.
- Koup – Dwarven Blacksmith NPC who assists in the crafting of items unique to the Dark Elf class.
Addition of the new Dark Elf item crafting system. Dark Elves will need to bring certain crafting ingredients to Koup in Silent Cavern in order to create several different weapons unique to the Dark Elf class. The Bring Stone, obtained from monsters in Silence Ground, is the basis for the Dark Elf item crafting system. The Bring Stone is refined by use of the Level 1 Dark Spirit Magic spell Purify Stone into the Dark Stone, which is further refined into the Brave Stone, which is further refined into the Wise Stone, which is further refined into the Kaiser Stone; at this time, Koup will only require the Dark, Brave and Wise Stones for crafting.
Addition of many new Dark Elf-specific weapons and armor.
Addition of the Level 15, Level 30 and Level 45 Dark Elf Quests:
Please note: Speaking to each NPC involved in each quest is imperative to complete each quest.
To begin the Level 15 Dark Elf Quest, speak to Kan in Silent Cavern. The rewards for completing this quest are the Shadow Mask (safely enchantable to +6) and the Dark Spirit Crystal (Purify Stone).
To begin the Level 30 Dark Elf Quest, speak to Ronde in Silent Cavern; you must have completed the Level 15 Dark Elf Quest before you can begin this quest. The rewards for completing this quest are the Shadow Gloves (safely enchantable to +6) and the Dark Spirit Crystal (Moving Acceleration).
To begin the Level 45 Dark Elf Quest, speak to Bludika in the Elder Room in Silent Cavern; you must have completed the Level 15 and Level 30 Dark Elf Quests before you can begin this quest. The Level 45 “Assassin” morph, required for this quest, has been added to the polymorph options list. The rewards for completing this quest are the Shadow Boots (safely enchantable to +4) and the Dark Spirit Crystal (Uncanny Dodge).
Addition of the new Dark Elf Spirit Magic. Dark Spirit Magic is a line of magic unique to the Dark Elves, containing three different levels of spells; Dark Elves can learn one level of Dark Spirit Magic for every 15 character levels. Dark Spirit Crystals function as spellbooks for Dark Elves and can be learned at any location, provided that the Dark Elf meets the level requirement to learn the spell. Certain Dark Spirit Magic will require the use of Dark Stones as a magical ingredient; Dark Stones can be obtained by using the Level 1 Dark Spirit Magic spell Purify Stone on a Bring Stone.
Miscellaneous
Addition of a fourth character slot to the Character Selection screen and updated Character Selection, Character Creation, Logo and Login screens.
Addition of the Island of Dreams. To travel to the Island of Dreams, speak to Edlin in Gypsy Town, who will charge 1000 adena to transport your character. The area of Gypsy Town has been changed to a Safety Zone. Characters restarting on Dream Island will reappear in Gypsy Town. There is no experience loss upon death while on the Island of Dreams; accordingly, experience gain on Dream Island is reduced. Teleportation scrolls and teleportation spells cannot be used while on the Island of Dreams.
Addition of elixirs capable of permanently increasing character stats. There are six different elixirs, one for each character stat: Elixir (STR), Elixir (CON), Elixir (INT), Elixir (WIS), Elixir (CHA), and Elixir (DEX). Elixirs cannot be dropped nor traded nor stored, but can be deleted. Characters will only be able to use a maximum of five elixirs per character and will not be able to use elixirs to increase their base stats beyond 25.
The Tower of Insolence has been expanded up to the 50th floor. This area has changed dramatically in the types of monster spawn, monster difficulty levels, and monster behavior, so please exercise caution when exploring familiar TOI areas. Several new items have been added as possible drops from TOI monsters, including Teleport Charms, Teleport Scrolls to specific floors in the Tower of Insolence, and the Ring of Zenith.
Characters restarting in the Tower of Insolence will now reappear on the first floor of the Tower instead of in Aden City.
Hit Point (HP) and Mana Point (MP) regeneration rates have been increased within the inner castle areas of Kent, Windawood, Giran, Heine, and Aden.
Bulletin boards have been added to all inner castle areas.
Characters restarting in the Temple of Eva will now reappear in Heine instead of Talking Island.
Summoned creatures dismissed while out of range of the owner will drop any carried items to the ground.
All classes capable of learning basic “common” magic can now learn these spells from either Gereng on Talking Island or Horun in Dragon Valley.
Added Help and Game Tip message pop-up windows. As characters level up, they will receive a Game Tip pop-up message which gives in-game information relative to their class; as players log in to the game, they will receive a Game Tip pop-up window. These windows can be disabled by using the check box on the message to disable tips on start up; to re-enable these windows, go into Game Options and click on Game Tip, which will display the dialogue box with a check box to re-enable.
