My pledge bugged me to take some photos of the medivial fair my wife and I went to this weekend. For those (few) who understand german, here is the link to the event. http://www.spectaculum.de/

They host such event in different towns. Thanks to the medivial history, we have plenty such events in germany, most of then arround or inside of castles and fortresses. You may even find Conal and Viviane somewhere in those pictures, but I wount tell you on which.

Before you now delve into the pictures, beware!

Even I reduced the images to lowest quality and created thumbnails, it will still hog some bandwith. The pictures reside on one of my server, so Roo wont have the impact on his Bandwith.

Dungeon of Doom Guide by Myrdin of Unicorn

The Dungeon of Doom can get very annoying and end nasty. After getting some whispers from other players regarding the quest, I decided to write a small guide containing all we know about this quest. After writing the guide I realized that we not know everything, just enough to show you the ropes.

So any feeback is welcome.

First, how many people you need?

My contract with my employer runs out and I am busy looking for a new employment. Hope this sort all out, so I am not worried yet. However, this leave me not much time for play.

Made 13% into level 49, but mostly I am busy with RL stuff as you can imagine. I am tinkering also about a some side stories, but aside from a few ideas I don't got any yet.

Quite to the opposite to my former pledges is my current home nice, care and don't raise the feeling to be all alone even we don't hunt together.

Most of the time I stalk after Drakes or look for Ancient Giant. Once day I run into Dark Elder. One thing for sure, he is impossible for me to solo yet. He chased me around for 20 minutes while I tried to maneuver him somewhere to get him without ADDs. In the end a pledgemate called friends if him in and the Elder died. However, he just carried a Blessed Prat - no compare to the 300 Clears I used in that process. :P

Rest of time I visit ToI 21+ or 31+. However I like 21+ more. Less dead around and comfortably warm. not to say hot sometimes.

Finally did Ancient Giant cross my path and with some patience I separated him from the rest of the flock. Again no go with Pots to defeat, but to my luck a pledgemate logged on and helped me to kill. Bless my soul, a few GHastes for the winners.

Ratman stumbled into Phönix the other day. As you can imagine, two con Knights don't make lot damage so it took ages to kill. Things speed up greatly when Quicksilver showed up and helped. :)

Like many other, I wasnt abel to play all day during the event. Still I managed to reach level 49 shortly before the event did end. The happyness was only of short. While on a DV check I run into something I believed to be a mage. It was indeed a mage, going by the name Dark Elder. Before I was realizing what happen I reached level 48 again. Thanks to a kind soul who GRessed me, I releveld. Minus one HP for this expirience and a reminder to be more carefull in dragon valley. :)

As mentioned before, I will take easy on the next few levels.

Orfen and Conal entered the now deserted pirate town. Most of the buildings where still standing, but you could see the decay. To Conals surprise, no litter or rubbish laid on the streets. Orfen lead Conal to a kind of Roof over a set of stairs and went down. “Come in”, the mage said. The stairs opened soon into a large cave with stonework and walls of the oh so well known design. In the centre of the cave floated the white shadow of a female person.

“I am sorry, but I can not help you here or come along. You need to speak with the ghost and follow her guidance.” told Orfen Conal, before she left the place.

Conal aproached the ghost. Her name was Kamyla and she where once the love of the dread Pirate Drake. While she told her pitiful tale how she ended up here, Conals mind began to wander. Pirate Island seems to be a place for ill-fated romances. He remembered clearly that Kamyla was not the first here in this story having a sad development. It was just a few days ago when...

...the Night covered the jungle. Somewhere the echoing screams of a Kiwiparot where to hear in the dark. Simizz stared with tears in her eyes on the bones, which lay beside a picture of a very young man on her desk. In her hand did she still hold the letter which cam along the remains, some unfinished lines addressed at her. Although she didn’t hear from her son in a long time and feared the worst, somehow she had always hoped he will be fine. Its a common saying, that hope died last. In Simizz case it was true to the fullest. She made up her mind and decide to burn the remains of her son at dawn. Letting the wind near the great cliffs carry the ashes over the great sea will be a proper last travel for a young man who wanted to travel to far of lands..

"You found it indeed" said Resta with a timid voice. What’s coming now, asked Conal by himself, alerted by the tone. "You see, I never had the...the opportunity to tell her. I think it should be left unsaid." For a moment Conal was unsure if he should cry or laugh now. Then, within a blink of a eye, he grabbed the sparkling gold ring out of Resta's surprised hand and started to walk over. "Wait, what you are going to do?" called Resta behind Conal, but the young knight didn’t react.

After he knocked on Simizz hut, Conal considered for a moment what to say. But whatever he wanted to say, he didn’t find words when the door opened and Simizz stepped out. She where crying. Definitely the wrongest moment for this issue, Conal realised. But it was to late. Simizz noticed the goldring Conal was holding between his thumb and index finger. "What is this for a ring you bring to me" she asked, took the ring and examined it careful.

The design of the ring where unmistakably a wedding ring and oh so clear did Conal recall Lukein’s raised eyebrow when he cleaned the ring and discovered the name inscribed in it. There was no way Simizz wouldn’t realise the meaning of the ring. And she didn’t disappoint the young knight, giving him a pice of mind about interfering in other peoples affairs..

"Well, you are absolutely right. This is not my business and this is not going by the script, Simizz. My apologies for this. After all these years it had to be said. You see, Resta had every chance to stop me and prevent me from telling you, but he didn’t. Seems that one part of him wanted you to know and that means he still care as he always did. With all respect to your loss, but maybe you bear the following in mind. Regardless how dark the night is, there comes always a new morning and if we feel the pain of loss its because he know there is the joy to feel to be cared about. Think I said enough, sorry for the disturb." Conal greeted, left the hut and went to the local inn. He saw the light in Resta's hut and him watching from the window.

Resta didn’t tell Simizz for over 10 years what he feel. Ten years where she might have someone needed and be it just as very close friend. That idiot can surely wait till tomorrow, if not longer. Making up his decision, Conal rented a room and went into a restless sleep with obscure dreams.

Giant blue lizards on Bicycles of some sort, with large gold rings as wheels chasing...

... “Will you help me and find Fransico for me?”

Kamyla voice forced Conal back into the present. “What? Yes, of course, where do I need to go?” Instead of a answer, Kamyla seems to glow brighter for a second and next Conal found himself in a hallway with odd looking spots on the ground. “I do not think that I want to love ever...” murmured Conal and started his journey to the dark and dank Labyrinth. What challenges await him, only future can tell.

Aside of my progress on the Drake questline, there is not much news. Conal passed 48 and crawls now to 49. It will be interesting how long the 49-50 crawl will take this time. Lady Luck again smiled and some kind Iffrits dropped a few more scrolls and Swords. By the end of the weekend, I managed with help to get another +8 Bkat. While it itches in my finder to see if it goes +9, I try my best to refuse. Last time I came out broke but with a weapon which I was still today unable to sell. As the traditional reader of my blogs know, I do not believe in overzell/drops displays. Its still raise only envy and is nothing more the marvelling the own greatness for a random item. So I try to avoid this kind of news. Beside I have the strong feeling that there is a random stat for Luck is involved. My royal on LoA was lucky, but never that way. When EP4 was on the Korean Testserver, the Mambo hat had a Bonus to Luck. The Luck Bonus was later replaced with Cha, but why develop a item which give a bonus to a stat which is claimed not to exist? I think it exist, but how much it affect the game I cant say.

It is not the items who define how great a char or player is, it is his deeds in my opinion. So, no overzell screenshoots in this blog..

One evening, SK8 shared about Lich he occasional hunt by himself. Currently the pledge works to get everyone the charms they need. Call it silly, but I lend my +7 CMoMR to SK8. He plan to buy it, but until he have the funds it is better used by him while on Bosshunts then resting in my storage. It will be some time, till I really need a CMoMR and since SK8 is Leadtank I will do fine with a lesser one.

Speaking of Bosses. Config and I got our hand on Garundur, which was spotted by a pledgemate. However it took more then me to end her.

Last, but certainly not least, I like to give some praise:

Thanks to CrystalJean and Orfen, who helped me farming Roughmith and creating a brand new Rapier. It is the first Rapier I ever see in the game, as royal you do not have use for such swords. With a lucky Bdai it went +7 and I hope to test it on ToI 31+ with a healer these days. Thank you booth! You are the best.
