Ingen's linblog

Making the best out of bad situations.

So what is new since last? God knows. Net still sucks big time for me. Despite this, I've managed to complete the Drake quest, after a few deaths. I can't really say that I enjoy doing quests in lineage, I find them tedious more often than not.

A quest I didn't manage to do was the earring launch event quests, which I am a bit annoyed by, since there's no real chance for my mage to get anything to use in that slot now. Sure, many may say that 2hp and 1mp regen mean little, but every bit of mp regen helps a mage.

I then decided to start investing in my mage, upgrading the equip. After trying to find a 10SoM for a while, I gave up since nobody seemed interesting in selling me one. I replaced several items with more overly enchanted items, which cost me a fair bit of money. I also picked up some new spells, and can't foresee me getting any more in the near future (the remainder are all either strictly pvp or very expensive). I did try a 9SoM out for a while, but with my lag the swings are far too slow for it to be worth using.

So, with the exp event appearing, and me having been at lvl 47 for far too long, I decided to try my luck on FI. It wasn't too bad, despite the lag, but I then got a few unlucky deaths which took away what I had earned, so I took a break. I asked a friend for assistance, and we went hunting 5xf together. We party up, my friend gather mops and I pop them. It is relatively safe, despite my lag, since the mops usually follow my friend rather than try to kill me. But everything is relative, and I did die a couple of times. Of course, there are also a lot of thieves. It's bad enough that 50 people 'accidentally' steal a mop or a few each, but there are some who steal repeatedly and do not apologise. Sad that the event makes people sacrifice honour for gains.

Standing around in the dark at times of low spawn makes you notice things you never noticed before. For instance, the following:

Battery-driven staff
Apparently I should have changed battery in Dark Elder staff before starting the hunt.

I haven't found any rechargeable batteries in lineage yet. Shame that. The hunt went on, and eventually what was supposed to happen, did happen.

Just me hitting 48
Level 48 might not mean much to most, but with my horrible net and lag spikes, it is a major personal achievement. How sad, eh?

Sweet! 1 more ac, 1 more mr, ability to use new summons. I carried on a bit longer, wanting to build a buffer so that I'd not de-level on the first death. This of course lead to me re-levelling twice, but ending on exactly the same hp/mp as after my first levelling. I then managed to work my way up a bit and beyond what I needed to be safe.

Other than that, lineage goes on as usual, with crafting and selling items. Have to get money for my mage somehow, and solo hunting is not a great idea with my lag (both slight or moderate lag all the time, and occasional 20 second lag spikes). Not sure what I am saving up for now though. AC is so much more expensive (tens of millions per extra point now), and I have all the accessories I need. All I can think of would be merk cap, black wiz ammy, 10SoM for the day when I don't lag as badly, or possibly some of the remaining spells. Which will take me a good while to save up for, heh. But what else can I do really?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Levelling goes slow

Yeah, still on shitty net, still ruining the game. But you can't go emo over stuff like that, either one has to adapt or move on to something else.

So, I decided to adapt. I only hunt in group (either with a bunch of pledgies as a healmage, or hunting with a good friend of mine) for exp, and if I do decide to hunt solo I do so at a few specific places where I know I'm quite safe. This of course means I get very little exp each day, but what can you do?

So I spend a lot of time with shop up, selling various basic items, and do other stuff. Occasionally I speak to the buyers, or potential buyers. Here's one example:

I only sell the best quality stuff
I sell good quality scrolls :P

All for now, take care and good luck all.

Ingen becomes a PK?

Gaining decent exp in 5xf at the moment, when I can play (depends on both me and my friend having time at the same time). All I need to get is a cloak of mana (1 more mp regen than silver cloak) and I think I have as high mp regen as I possibly can, without relying on wis ammy of course. Now I just need the merk cap and bw ammy :P

Had some other fun today too: A pledgemate was being harassed while lawing, so me and another mage went with him, in invis. This guy, (orc scout poly) was there with his healmage (dark elder poly), and cast earth bind on our friend. Unfortunately for the orc poly, that made him pink. When earth bind wore off, detect came and the healmage venzed, orc poly didn't, and bit the (erupted) dust.
I don't condone PK'ing people for no good reason, but you have to stand up for your mates against bullies. Afterwards, I realised I had full regen gear on, csom and the lot. Good we weren't up against worse stuff.

Any idea what he meant with "ur ed not mine" though? He said that after dying, but none of us went chao or died.. any takers?

What else is new? Nothing really, just doing some crafting to build the money and grinding away with my friend in 5xf. Rather boring, quite effective, but unfortunately doesn't give many good screenshots or stories to tell. Best of luck to all of you in your hunts (so that market saturation occurs and I can buy things I want in the future cheaper :P).

Strange conversation

So, I tried hunting with severe lag, and went to FV with two bunnies in tow. I try to mark a mop but before the command goes through, an elf, Beleth (I think) morph called ShowbiS casts elemental falldown (again, I think) on it. I hit SoE to avoid bunnies killing it. Then an interesting conversation followed. I tried to be nice at first, and stating my view of PK threats. Retrospectively, I guess he might have misinterpreted me calling my char a newbie, and overreacted to what he thought was someone calling him a newbie. Still found it quite amusing.

Him: if u dont stop ur ill kill u :S
Me: laggy, as soon as I saw you hit it first I
Me: used scroll of escape to stop bunnies
Him: "kk
Me: If you want to kill me, go ahead and lose
Me: your lawful points.
Him: lol you think i care i level easy
Him: chao as lawful lol
Me: and it takes me what, 2 minutes to make up
Me: exp lost?
Me: Go go being a newbie :P
Him: u know what Come to me in rl
Him: were u from?
Me: Why would I go to you IRL..?
Him: to get ur as kicked
Me: lol
Me: What are you, 14?
Me: grow up
Him: O.o 19
Him: Come to me irl
Him: were u from?
Me: You can't afford to pay for my time.
Him: were u from??
Him: Come to Bronx
Me: Read what I said
Him: New york
Him: come
Him: u will see then
Me: What will I see? A 19-year-old immature guy
Him: u can say things over games :S
Me: Yes, yes you can.
Him: Irl U a fackin pusy hha

etc.. But then he decides to prove he is in fact grown up, mature and not prejudiced:

Him: U need some maner
Me: Actually, you do.
Him: aiit I need some it wasn't nice of me
Him: FACKING UR Mum
Him: ur dead mum
Me: lol.. working on your maturity I see
Him: Ur a korean idiot sittin home crying over
Him: ur dead mum
Me: More like laughing at you.
Me: Btw, do koreans usually spell better than
Me: People from bronx?
Him: haha
Him: Not
Me: Just wondering since you keep calling me
Me: one.
Him: Korean dont even know english ahahhahaha
Me: So, you are just not making sense when you
Me: call me one.
Me: you are a funny guy. Do you mind if I post
Me: This convo?
Him: no U can post it

Then I told him to take care and enjoy his hunting :P

Scrapping cha mage?

Lev           %

I'm considering scrapping my cha mage, and only play my conelf (or when I get bored, my intmage). I really don't see much point in keeping my cha-mage, it only has one more pet than my elf. Sure, it can use summons, and it will have 4 summons instead of 2 for my int-mage, and it would get 3 dires if I ever got it to lvl 52. But I just don't think that it's good enough (compared to intmage or conelf) to warrant the pain and grind to get it up there. I guess I'll keep it and go get the intbook so I can sell that, and maybe fool around with when really really really bored, but that's about it.

In other news: My conelf seems to like to delevel and re-level, losing a point or two of mp and hp every time. I wish I wouldn't get horrible 10-20 second lag spikes, but what can you do (other than hit SoE and hope it goes through in time)?
