Firstly this is not a complaint - just a question, because I *really* don't understand how this works.
In the last three months - i can't remember getting a drop such as a zel or a dai etc. Only one or two two handed swords etc.
Yet tonight my friend goes out in the same place I hunt every day and comes back with 2 ndais, 1 bzel and 3 great axes - he claims his hunts are almost always like that - in this case he said it was a little extreem with the bzel aswel.
I just don't get it.
There *has* to be
something you guys aren't telling us about this system.
Thinking about it... I can say with out word of a lie, I could count the number of zels/dais i've ever gotten as drops on my fingers.
(I'm pretty sure i've had like less than 10 of each)

Why is it that a select few people seem to hunt more fruitfully in the same places as others? Am i *really* a sad statistic?

I talked with Scout about drop probabilities, and as horrible as it sounds, it really is all about luck. It sounds like you're going through some particularly bad luck, and she said there's nothing else that would be affecting your drops. I know you were sort of hoping it was more than just luck, so I hate being the bearer of bad news!

Not to bring up a really old topic, but I do agree it is all luck...
My drops thus far hunting Heine 4 for almost the past 2 weeks (almost 2-3 hrs a night). My goal is to get a Spirit Crystal (Nature's Blessing) (off Turtle Dragons and Sea Dancers) and Eva's Scorn (electro fish).
After killing hundreds of Turtle Dragons, Sea Dancers, Crustaceans, Crabmen, and electro fish (don't wanna spell the name) here are my usable drops:
15 n-zel
4 n-dai
1 Thor's Hammer
2 Spellbook: Full Heal
100+ Brave Potions
70+ B-Teles
4 Spirit Crystal (Nature's Touch) >.<
Tons of other junk items
I know there are people that have gone down to Heine 4 and gotten NB or Eva's Scorn within minutes of arriving. I also know that if I keep hunting there as much as possible, I will get the drops I am desiring. I am not going to complain, I have turned a nice profit hunting down there, just have yet to get the drops I want.

The thing is, without seeing how the RNG in Lineage works, it makes any amount of factual work next to impossible. I've often suspected that when the server seeds the RNG, the "quality" of the seed can vary dramatically. There was a month hunting with my buddy on FI that I got over a dozen ancient scrolls. After coming back a couple month later I can't get any at all.
My nagging suspicion is that there is an "indirect" luck stat tied to accounts/characters by way of how the server seeds the RNG, which everything in game uses extensively.

The luck stat is a long standing rumor. One rumor that I actually do believe... There does seem to be some underlying, unsee-able factor that controls some luck...
Second from that... There also seems to be a correlation between high end drops and time... For instance, Feandel's example above. Some weeks, it feels that, the chance of getting a certain item is greater, and then the next week it drops back down. I have had the same experiences with Ascrolls... Anywhere from 3 in one day (4 in 2 days) to none for 3 weeks.
Ive also seen the same thing with Holywalk/Obelt/Advance. Some days(or week, or month) the chances of getting them just seem higher, and then the very next week, none.

I hope by trying to be consistent and persistent will help me out with Heine 4 and getting NB and Eva's :). I don't want to be down there for months trying to get those drops, but if I still get them after a month or two it will all be worth it in the end :).

from my experience it seems you never get what you are going out to hunt for. i'm not saying its a mind set or conspiracy. but my luck has always fallen to getting something totally different from what i was trying to find. like getting HW from a harpy when i was hunting ogres, or skel skulls when i hunt res scrolls on ghouls.

yea the way luck seems to
yea the way luck seems to run in this game, it comes and goes, 1 week i make about 12m in the same spot and the fallowing week i would b lucky to make 500k. i find in alot of the places i hunt and i hunt solo most the time that if i find a spot that pops out at me for 45sec and up to 2 min straight with a great respawn rate i will work that for a while till i drain it, but even that doesnt work all the time
