Lineage has continued to attract us for years, even though its graphics and game system is sometimes criticized as out of date. What is the purpose of this simplicity, and why are we so obsessed with this game? Definitely, one main reason is mass-scale wars. Because of simple graphics, lag stays at minimum level, and we can easily look around the situation around ourselves. Also, because of its simple game system, coorporation with others determines our success to beat enemy parties.

Since last week, on Altair, the 5th server of Japan, massive-scale seiges of Aden have occurred, involving the majority of war pledges and more than 400 players. 400! (According to Prince Seiki, 300 people attacked on May 8, and 100 people joined in the defense. Additionally over 100 spectators attended the scene) The number would be more than the average population of Dep or Ken servers in the USA. Furthermore, this was not just once a year war, but it has been held every four days. If a Lin player takes a look at these films of those seiges, s/he will cry your unfortune of not being there. The Lineage developers would feel their heart fullfilled that their desire came true.

Aden Seige on May 8
Since the introduction of Episode 3, two major war pledges, called Comets and Tenkuu, became the dominant powers on Altair. They rapidly adjusted to the newly updated system, magic and items. Successfully, they occupied all castles and maximized the tax rate to 50%.
This situation was tough to the majority who depended on the supply of healing pots, hastes, poly scrolls, etc. from NPC shop vendors. Imagine if a red pot cost 60a, 200a for an escape scroll, 2.1k for a poly scroll and 2.4k for a G-haste. These prices were a heavy burden particularly for melee classes.
Prince Seiki stood up to change the situation. Seiki, leader of Spirits Pledge, called a meeting with leaders of CristalStars/NoFear Alliance and AltairBlessing Allinace. They made the coorprative relationsip and decided to seige Aden on 8th of May. In addition to their pledge members, hundreds of public players joined in to help this seige. Their enthusiastic coorporation and meticulous strategy led this seige to a success.
The following is the process of the seige, explained by AregasGulay, the prince of an attacking pledge (Rondelay Music of the Dawn):
The Aden seige two days ago:
The summit concerning the Aden attack was held.
It was decided to attack Aden on May 8.
The groups at seiges and main participating clans were as following:
TADAS pledge: CS, TADAS, and BP
Spirits Pledge: Spirits, Wing of Light and AB(Religious Sorolity, Daybreak Moon, OS, and AB's friendly clans)
Dinasaur Pledge: Dinasaur
Pigeon pledge: General Public at advertisement
Moreover,it was confirmed that each power would gather at 14:00 (Pegeon pledge would start at 13:00 to advertise and join publics), and scheduled march beginning at 15:00.
Day before Aden War:
5/7 The executive members of participation war clans gathered and discussed the strategy (march gate/route, potential arrangement, sub GT, defense line, etc.) and information for the Aden castle.
13:00 on the day of Aden War:
Public Recruitment was begun before Kent Town master according to schedule.
Join was piled up well and it became an excellent number of people.
14:00 on that day of Aden war:
Each power started to gather
From the beginning, eight total people had already united by chat group, two from each power, and the attackers advanced while sharing information on the rescrutment situation, party organization, progress report, and the Aden defense power.
And, work to confirm the emblems of each power for the confirmation of the allied army was done.
(Although the confirmation was held decrease confusion even a little,
it seems indispensable for the war of this scale.)
15:00 on that day of Aden war:
Each power declared agaisnt Aden while ascertaining the situation by chat party.
Based on Aden GT, they gathered at the following gates, and the march began from the each gate:
Two o'clock direction: dinosaur power...about 20 people
four o'clock direction: Spirits pledge...about 90 people
Eight o'clock direction: Pigeon pledge(public advertisement)...about 120 people
Ten o'clock direction: TADAS pledge...about 70 people
It starts attacking in shape to encircle the Guardian Tower. 10 minutes after the start of attack,the defense power passed the crown between their royals.
However, the passing was already in our assumption, and the dinosaur power and Pigeon power assaulted to the GT without the declaration. The rest followed after their declarations.
(The first 2 min and half of the May 8th film showed from the passing of the crown to the occupation of GT. Prince Seiki was standing by the GT on the right side and called his order repeatedly in this scene)
The furious struggle was developed centering on the GT. However, as the Spirits and TADAS joined into the fight, the GT was suppressed.
As we thought we could start to defense as it was then, Prince Seiki catched the crown! (It was apparently a mistake according to thier blogs)
Still 30 minutes were remaining.
The defense force gathered in the four o'clock direction to attack back, and another fierce battle occurrred on this side.
However, they successfully kept the GT till the end.
