That small amount of time from whacking escape and it actually happening just happens to be long enough for any enemy to do enough damage to kill you..

Well, I have 30 second
Well, I have 30 second random lag spikes. Yeah, fire golems will actually walk across the screen, beat me to death, and walk off. I get to watch the whole thing, but can't escape or heal or VT it or anything. I think that's marginally worse than a slight escape lag :P
