I hope this doesn't come to the live servers, but if it does, how stupid.
To show you what it would look like, the skells and I went up to IT 8. I let them fill up on drops and kept killing.

I didn't move, I just let the mops come at me and killed them as they came. Since it was me and the skells beating on them, the drops are not going to always fall to me: I try to keep mops away from me (soft ac remember!) so the drops are either right now that is, going to drop to the skells or to the ground. Since these skells were full, the drops went to the ground.
Note how far the drops are. In a place like IT8 where no one else is, it's not as much of an issue to run and grab them. But you tell me: if you've got a good pack of mops going, and you're on a roll, are you really going to go running after drops?
Anyone who uses a ranged weapon, be it a bow and dogs or summons and magic or yeah, a bow and summons is going to be totally shafted by this change. You will be running after your drops, and hoping that no one else grabs them.
On Ken I'm not sure what you can do if someone steals your drops under this system...oh I know: NC would tell us that after each mop, stop and get the drops. yeah that's going to work really well.
I don't understand the purpose of this update other than that some programming glitch is about to go in with regards to the pet armor. I suspect that with pet armor some of the slots are now munged to the point where pets just couldnt' collect, or they'd collect their armor. So rather than FIX IT!! it's easier to turn off collect on pets. And oh while we're at it, we'll mess with summons so they don't work too well either.
I don't care how uber a mage or an elf you are. THere are times when things drop to your pet and not to you. It's the fact of life when using a ranged weapon. I find it amazing that NC doesn't see that the classes that use ranged weapons (and yes it is royals too of course) do so because of soft ac. If we have soft ac we don't want mages right in our faces TYVM so yeah, the pets are going to reach them first.
I suggest that people make their opinions known on the NC boards.

The change is that drops will no longer go to pets or summons or tames. They will either drop directly to the player or if the player is not right on top of the mops, they will drop to the ground. You will then have 10 seconds to pick them up. After that time anyone can pick them up. I am not sure what happens at say a boss or a DI mop where the hoards of Aden bang on it to end it.
It totally screws people like elves, mages and royals though. Anyone who uses a pet or a summon and who doesn't get every drop directly to them will have to F4 a lot. And, from what I have heard, dogs will no longer collect. I strongly suspect that the addition of pet armor somehow messed up pets and summons...

Sorry Riverine but the change with the drops system is more worse.. not even the player gets the drops. CaptSturm said: "This is a new feature of Episode 2. The person who kills the mop (be it via melee, range, pet or summon) has several seconds to pick up the loot. After about 10 seconds, anyone can pick up the item."
There are several threads now about this... two in the Test section and one in the discussions. I started a poll on my blog, so everyone please vote so we get some numbers to be send to NC.. if this unanounced major change (no word in the list of changes) goes live, I'll be history for Lineage.

When I kill an ifrit I typically have so much animation lag that I can't move after it dies...it's still hitting me even though it's dead (no damage, just the animation), and I have to stand there till that ends.
There is no way that in 10 seconds I'd be able to move, not trip over my summons and get my drops.
Why are they changing it and why is he calling it a feature? I strongly suspect there is a HUGE bug in the new pet armor. I bet that if collect is on you'd wind up taking your pet's clothing off every time you collected...

I often use dogs to collect drops that can't be seen on the screen due to bad backgrounds. Yay. . . this part of the update is going to suck.
tried it on test
i think i broke my f4 key... my next plan is to follow people around FV, wait for them to get mobbed and steal their drops... as soon as i buy a new keyboard. i'm sure a number of other people are trying to figure out how to do the same.
it works on Lin2 due to the 1vs1 aspect of it. it won't work here. NC needs to hold off on pet armor and fix the bug. but they won't.
Drop to ground
This is not a new feature to Lineage I. It is new to US servers. This feature has been on some of the Korean servers for a long time so Wuss doesnt think that it has anything to do with pet armour but you never know with NC. Lineage II drop system is like this and Wuss never experienced any problems with drop thiefs and Wuss actually played the Korean beta of Lineage II. This will be less of a problem on the PK servers then on Ken where you cant take revenge for drop thiefs. So what you are going to have to do Riverine is take Wuss with you everywhere you go to pick up your drops :)

It's like this in Lin2 and honestly it's not something I've ever thought much about. I got used to it in, like, ten minutes. I don't use pets or summons, though, so I can't comment on that.
The downside to all of this as far as I can see is the number of items that are simply invisible when they hit the ground, especially in FV. I'm sure everyone will end up with lots of helmets just by trying to pick up adena.
