In Episode 5, one of the quests allows the player to choose one of five rewards, one of them is the royal’s only shield of trust.
Shield of Trust: Cha +2, Ac -3, Safe enchant +6.
If you id this shield, it will tell you about a special ability. This special ability is that this shield absorbs some damage as well.
Shield of Trust Experiment:
1. Experimenter: Level 45, Strength 12, Dex 15, Con 18, Dark Elf
2. Target: 52 Prince Con 18
3. 50 Hits on before and after equipping shield of trust
The reason that they choose dark elf as experimenter is because dark elf performs high damage.
Test 1:
Dark elf:+6 B-claw’s heavy hits 17+3+6+4 =30
Royal: Ac:3 with no shield of trust
Test 2:
Same as Test 1 but with shield
Result: Shield of Trust lower’s the maximum damage by 2!!!!
Test 3:
Same as test 1 but Dark Elf is buffed so maximum damage is 40
Test 4:
Same as test 3 but with shield
Result: Maximum damage decreased by 2
In conclusion:
The shield of trust will absorb damage by 2!!!!

Why add to CHA? 18 additional members (at 50+) in a BP that already has 180 slots ain't that great. The benefit is the same for any royal regardless of their initial CHA. If they're gonna go the "more CHA items for royals" route, the the benefit of having high CHA needs to be much more exponential.
They also told us that with Episode 3, stats would become mouldable... that was the new "thing". Some items would add to stats whilst removing from others as a trade-off... this item doesn't even do that.

Actually I agree. Since the royal magic was introduced i've been forced to switch from bow to sword... purely because the difference between the two is now massive. With the introduction of Essence in the new US ruleset, using a bow simply isn't a viable option for a royal anymore - which makes me sad. I always wanted to be a "DE" princess.
Perhaps this is one of the issues we can beat Captsturm up over - especially with the new "Diamond Sword" quest. How about an uber bow that lets you use a shield, and has some damn good stats to make up for the in-effect of the royal magic on ranged weapons.
I slugged it out to 50 using a bow - it's just really sad that it's no longer viable for me to use it. I liked being a rubbish elf.
