I am disgusted at what happened yesterday to Roo. She must have forgotten tolog out, and was afk in the house for hours and hours. At some point,someone pined and/or left a door open so that a cow wandered in. A spart killed her.
Now, I rarely use the house. I do not trust most people to be smart enough to close doors. As someone who hunts in Fire Valley every day, I don't usedoors I use escape scrolls or bteles. But obviously some people walk to the
dwarf and forget to close the door. And then anyone can get in.
I am not sure if the piner was in our pledge or not, but I suspect that itwas. I think someone thought it was fun to play with pines in the house, and then when a spart burrowed, didn't bother detecting it to kill it. Sparts
can hide for a long time. It could be that the wolf or cow walking around set it off, or perhaps the piner did detect and fled.
Leveling a charisma royal is not easy. To effectively hunt hard places they are going to take four hard core dogs with them. Unlike my skells, dogs can steal experience, especially if their owner can't hit that hard. At this
point on Ken, there are NO level 50 royals doing the level 50 quest. Anyone who does not have a level 50 quest item is really SOOL. I bought mine a long time ago (ty Gobbie!!), but right now, people global for the items and
aren't getting them. Roo wants to hit 50. She wants to take her pledge members who want those items, on the quest. But stupid nonsense like this sets her back. I can make back 2 and a half percent in two days as a mage
who surprisingly has a life and can't play non-stop. But for a charisma royal, that experience is much harder won. It's not like leveling a con/water elf, who can stand in TOI and just kill high level mops till there are no arrows left. It is much harder.
Thanks to Legolas2000, Roo won't be out the cash at least. He has offered to pay for the buy back, and I think that's great.
I hope we find out who pined in the house. I want to know who did it, so I can be sure to make their life hell on Ken. I won't be happy until that person leaves the server in disgrace. I'm hoping that NC can help us in this, as it was a blatently grief play move. I think there is a chance that the person who did it could get banned. If you can not AFK as a royal in your own house, then no place is safe and that's just wrong.
I have a few bookmarks in places where there are no mops and no players. If I have to AFK for a minute and I have dogs or new summons I go to one of those places. I feel safer there then in my own house. That's a sad commentary on some of the people on the server that I would take my chances out in Aden before in my own house.
On a happier topic, I managed to find my way back to the MLC from TI and hung out there for a bit. No Necro's but no one screaming about OMG YOU HIT MY MOP I HATE YOU either...
That just stinks
I feel so horrid for Roo. I'm a con royal, and I know how hard it is for me to get xp, and I know it's harder even still for Roo. On a decent hunt, I can get about .25% an hour... that means that to get 10%, I have to hunt 40 hours with a decent spawn rate, not including restocking breaks, taking care of bp business, and... not dying.
I totally understand why people give up and remake a char at lvl 49, frankly. And I understand why there are darn few (if any, anymore) royals available to do the lvl 50 quest. It seems pretty irrational to make it even harder for the few of us who remain.

More than just Lego offered to pay for the buyback. He was just the first to find an OSX'er to give money to (that wasn't on FI.... or I would have given my money to Caz right then and there).
The backing Roo has recieved on this incident is incredible. It's good to see that not everyone who still plays this game is a consciousless bastard.
