Fun With Tames!

So being a wiz has its ups and downs like any character, but when you get bored, wiz's have a few extra things up thier sleeve to mix things up a bit. So after a good hunt with Meso on IT I decided to wander up to lvl 6 and tame a death. To my amazement, not only was there one waiting at the portal (ok, that is to be expected with my luck to have a death waiting to hack me to pieces) but I quickly tamed it in one try! So, since I didn't have any polys on me, I decided to see what use a death would be in the greater of Aden. It turns out to be a challenging Mop to use. For starters, you can't heal it! You hurt the darn thing if you do, but it does regen fairly fast. Best tactic with a Death is to use the time it buys you to whack the crud out of whatever is attacking it. It has decent AC and a fair amount of HP. Low lvl mops like lyncs barely , if ever that I could tell, hit it. So its useful to clear hordes of aggroo packs that can't hurt it. More importantly, it hits pretty hard. Its like having a nice weapon that attacks kinda slow. You can haste them, and then they are far more useful. BB's probably hit as well, but they can't handle dmg like the death can. Of course, you can heal BB's. The death was fun on its own and somewhat useful in FV, but the real fun started when I teamed it with a Varkuuk in Heine dungeon. It was then I began my poison revenge tour! I decided it was payback time to poison all the mops that did me. But, first, there was a rat in the way.

After various successes with that team I went out to OWL where everything was going good until my death went feral on me. I had to chase him back down, which was easy since he more or less came after me. After retaming, I went to FV where I promptly got both the death and Varkuuk killed. Then it was back to Heine after ressurecting the Death. The Varkuuk dissapeared quicker than i could rez both of them. That was odd. Also, it was at this time I learned Rez then heal is not a good idea with Deaths in town. I went pink, then made the stupid thing mad at me. Luckily tames cant hurt you. In Heine I decided to try to heal a new partner in crime and after a few unsuccessful tries with Ramias, I got an Arach Elder and they rock! They attack fast and often and poison! So mops tend to attack it first and I can heal while I and the Death attack also. Worked like a charm. Back to the poison revenge tour!


Then it was the Ramias turn. . .


Then I went to SC to return likewise favors to a few orc zombies.

So since I was testing out Aden I decided to do some intentional and some unintentional (darn those f key multiples) teleporting. Which brought me to the small Wastelands where I was going to do some BK hunting with my new crew. After I got a pack I took a few steps up and came face to face with a Lastabad Thief. Then the fun started.


Then 2 a little behind that one. Notice how dead skells when poisoned look like Toxic waste splatters. :D

Apparent disaster struck and I made an unintentional tele of teles.. I ended up in outer Giran surrounded by solo Lastabads and a few pairs. I had lost my arach in SWL to a general when he toasted both pets so I had to rez again.. I took on an archer skel which was kinda nice, cept he died quickly twice and that was all I wanted to see. So it was just me and uber Death to fight the lastabads for the most part.

Then I learned that Lastabad thieves, at least, are very suceptible to FS and whoosh, they started going down fast.

That was a fun run in Lin all told. No deaths for the wiz and he finally lost the Death in Giran. I was near the northern dog stables when he went feral for the third time and apparently there must be a max on taming because it said i tamed 2 times , but he stayed aggo and never became my pet.. well, I had to run because apparently he was holding a grudge. :P

I wonder if I can tame a Ramia? :o
