Windowed Mode

Three ways I think:

1. Macs allow it
2. Running it in a virtual machine, ie, using vmware or virtualpc. Not sure whether that is acceptable in the eyes of NC though. Someone may wish to contact them and ask.
3. I hear some rare videocards support it.

Those are the ones I can think of, that do not include outright changing the client, which I assume is against the rules.

If you are on a PC you can change the Target line in your short cut on your desk top (Right Click - Properties) can't quite remember what the syntax is off hand, but there's not much to add to get it in Windowed mode.. nor can I remember the keystrokes for "Freeing the mouse" to roam outside the Game Window o.0 .. not much help but mabey someone knows what I'm talking about an can elaborate. Been a long time since I used it, back in the day when I had only one comp in house used it with EverQuest , I don't see why it wouldn't work with Lin as well.

Google is amazing. But to elaborate a bit: Both are programs used to simulate running a computer. Therefore it is a virtual pc or virtual machine, since it doesn't physically exist. It is just a program. Within this machine you can then run a variety of programs, and if you were to run lineage, then you'd run lineage in fullscreen in the virtual machine, but since that in turn is a window, you'd essentially run it windowed.

I guess VMWare or VirtualPC may be harsh on a low-end machine, since you are simulating a second computer (even if Lineage shouldn't require a high-end simulation).. I wonder what NCs point of view on this is though.

It doesn't alter the gameplay (other than give you another program that can crash I guess), but you ARE using a program besides lineage and your operating system to run lineage. Anyone care to contact NC support to try to get a sensible answer?

OK I think I'll chime in here. A VM is not the answer here, because while people with setups such as Tikie's (Jesus H. Christ, Tikie! Are you playing Lineage or planning global war) can handle a VM, a lot of people still play Lineage because of the relatively low system requirements. And as far as editing of shortcut names or target lines, trust me, I've tried all that and then some. What NC SHOULD DO is to step up and make it possible via a game option. (OH NO, VIDEO OPTIONS FOR LINEAGE? WHATS NEXT, RESOLUTION OPTIONS? GASP AND SHUDDER DO WE HERE AT NC, GASP AND SHUDDER!)
