Buggy cha or am I missing something?

Okay, I may very well be missing something obvious here, but I can't see what it would be.

The deal is this: I have a mage, with base cha stats, so that is 8 charisma.
I equipped jet black crystal, cloak of the sea and charisma amulet, which should give me 12 (8+2+1+1). I look at my character stats, and confirm that charisma is indeed 12. I equip ring of summon control, cast summon monster and select gargoyles. 2 gargoyles appear. I set them to aggressive stance and haste each once. I walk a bit, and they follow, and I see no indication of a third gargoyle. I dismiss 2, and still see no third gargoyle. Conclusion: Since I've played with no summons for 3 hours previously, there should not have been any "left over" summon blocking the third from appearing.

I thought maybe it was very severe lag between server noticing me getting 12 cha? Or maybe it is specific for gargoyles? So I try to summon again, this time skeleton fighters (or whatever the regular lvl48 ones are called, the ones with axes). I check as above, and still only have 2.

My question is thus: What the hell? Shouldn't 12 cha give me 3 regular summons? It did the day before, which is strange. Anyone else experienced anything like this, or have any idea what is going on?

Oh, btw, as far as summons go, are gargoyles actually any good? Or are the skellies better?

That is odd Ingen .. I too have the same set up far as Stats and Equipment, identical (only lvl 46 though) and it did add another bugbear for me .. havn't tried w/the Summon ring yet .. not sure whats goin on there.

I've noted that there's been a change in the way things work in the game.

You need to KEEP your cha items on until you have completed summoning -just like you now have to KEEP your ROPC etc on whils you maple yourself.

It seems they've added some extra checks into the game.

It happens sometimes. 12

It happens sometimes. 12 Char is enough to summon 3. Sometimes however, you just end up with 2. It does happen. It has been happening since as long as I remember. Way back when you could summon 8, but sometimes ended up with only 4 or w/e. Nothing you can do but resummon. Sometimes it helps to leave out the 2 you already got from the first attempt, instead of dismissing and summoning all new fresh ones.

Also, always double check that they arent just stacked.

Yeah, that's why I hasted/moved etc. If you cast one haste on each 'stack' and move, it should show if two occupy the same tile.

Thanks for the info. Not really related, but which of the lvl48 ones is better? Or do they have certain advantages/disadvantages?


Use the 4 way arrow command

Use the 4 way arrow command in the summons menu .. sperads them out, seldome do two walk the exact route till stop. Mabey that help ya see how many you have!!
I don't "play" a Mage often enuff to have experienced this I guess, as it has never happened to me o.0

Use the skels when you are

Use the skels when you are moving fast, and in just most occasions..

Use the gargs when you are moving slow or just need something to take damage for you. The gargs hit harder, and have way more hp. But they walk SOOO slow, and swing kind of slow compared to skels.

Gargs are for bosses/minibosses, DI, hunting in a small area, or places like DVC5-6 on solo mage.

Skels are for pretty much everything else, especially when you are killing monsters using hit and run tactics. The gargs wont keep up, but the skels will.

My friend Kalanat used to have that happen all the time. He was supposed to get 3 summons but usually got 2 and had to resummons for the 3rd, hence, a waste of now precious m-gems. I have no idea what causes it, we never did find out but like I said, it was when m-gems dropped from lots of mops.
Just curious....did you summons in a small area? Kal & I hunted in DVC alot back then so it was confined. I dunno, might not be anything ^.^

Confinement does seem to have an effect on it. I summoned 4 times in one hunt this weekend. Got 3 the first time, 2 each time after.
