It was silent in the smal inn on Talking Island. Silent enough that you could hear the breaking of the waves on the nearby beach, only ocasional interupted by the squeaking of a wooden plank.
Conal layd on the bed, letting the final battle against the Guardian Giant pasing before his eye. It was a great fight, however it was much easyer then exspected. They had been lucky getting the Giant alone. The Giant Elder where thankfull and now for some time now Conal where looking for the hidden Spy Marshall had send.
From all places on this world, this is the most cosy one. Call it sentimental or waste of money - but yet there is no other place who offers more comfort and style. Most of the Inns in Aden are shabby, not to mention the cold and dank castles. You only can get melancolic by living in such tomb of stone.
Conals eyes flickered open when he heard message of another giant sighting. This time around Werldern. News had it that this giant where unusual peacefull and of smaler size then the others. This might be the on he was looking for. Grabbing some potions from a shelf, Conal went to the desk where some scrolls of teleportations where stored. In a blink of the eye he passed though the dimmensions and apeared behind the window of the general store in Werldern.
Indeed. A very unusual giant where walking through the dust of Werldern. He seemed to be lost of some sort, or maybe desoriented since he moved from one corner to another without any aparent pattern.
Conal followed that strange giant while he called for help. If this is indeed the Spy who where sent to infiltrate the giants, then this person need help. First of, the polymorphing effect wich maintain his cover must be removed.
Thanks to the selfless act of the kind mage xyz, the giant where cleansd from any magic. It was indeed the lost Scout and he was very old. Looking in his face, Conal start to wonder if long time use of polymorphs have any negative sideeffects like early aging. If yes, what will happen to all those high and mighty heroes who where last seen unpolymorphed by their mother at their birth?
Accepting the challenge the old scout and Conal went to the Ivory Tower Town. A smal hamlet near the Tower of Highmagic. Their way lead throu the wasteland where in the old days once a large battle between two armies had occured. Parts of the armies are still wandering the wasteland.
With respect to the health of the old man, Conal decided not to use any polymortphing magic to pass the wasteland unhinderet. Frankly, he didnt want to risk and see the old Scout dying from more magical ageing before he reach the save habour of the town. Einhasad must have been smiled upon them, since the journey was long but unevent full.
The Marshall in Werldern where impressed from the report and along his undying thanks he gave Conal a magical belt for his deed.
Word of story must have been spread. Casterdeath, a young wizzard, aproached Conal and offered his skill for some adventures. After a short hesitation to trust a stranger, Conal accepted his offer and they ventured to the Tower of Isolence to hunt some of the Lesser Demons who roam the 25 floor of that blasted tower. Conal being a joung knight and Casterdeath being a young mage made it a callenge, since booth where still learning their trades. They succeded, mostly unharmend, from the challenge with some treasure and a relevation. Next time, Conal fight enemies in a doorway, he will choose a doorway wich is smal enough to let only one enemy attack him and not all at once.
However: Congrats to Casterdeath for his new Ring of Fire Resistance.
Later the day, after some rest, word reached Conal that a friend was in danger. In a place, called Firevalley by the commoners, a horrific creature where threathen the joung mage.Config did describe the creature as a hugh floating fire with partly humanoid shape, armed with a spear of pure fire. After a quick search Conal found the beast and recognised it instantly. Althrough this was the first time he meet one, Conal hard heard about thos beings. As soon the Iffrit spoted Conal, he moved toward him. By luck, Conal was near a rock wich he could use as cover, forcing the Iffrit to come closer.
The so called Valley is more a slope of a big volcano where, according to rumors, a dragon life. The entire area is glistering with heat, many fisures on the ground and large lave lakes. Within this burning slopes their weapons meet.
Two times the Iffrit nearly burned Conal to ashes and several times Conal had to mend his dammaged weapon. The fight raged for some while and Conal consider himself luck that no other creature who could have interfered was nearby. In the end Conal was victorious and the Iffrit gave in.
Thus ends Conals first encounter with a Iffrit.
A kindly trader sold him 3 more Blessed Katanas for a nice price and one of the 4 Blades did surive the intense magical enchantments he placed upon them.
If he ever come accros another Iffrit he will meet his new +8 BKat.
There we come to a end for now. I hope your time in aden was exiting as mine and you enjoyed reading the Blog. Dont forgett it, anyone is welcome to make a blog at Lineage One.
