I need a good MMORPG. I quit WoW fairly recently, coming from one of the top guilds in the world, and I need another MMORPG. I'm trying to go back to my roots. I love 2-D games as I grew up on them. Should I play Lineage? What makes Lineage special? Is it a lot of fun? A grind?
Enlighten me.
Thanks in advance,
Kazik

hmm, reasons to play Lineage
hmm, reasons to play Lineage (my reasons)....
1. Years invested
2. Friends I have made
3. Always something new
4. my 4 chars have great personalities! (lol)
5. There is a lot to Lineage if you take the time to seek it. Not just level level level....
Depending on the pledge you get into and after you do some research on the different pledges such as watching global chat ^.^ you can join a pledge and have uber fun. So many different type pledge options to make friends in. There are old established pledges, seige pledges, hunting pledges with houses, even some ethnic pledges you never hear on global because they are having a lot of fun in their own language .in pledge chat ...lol
My suggestion to you? Try it! I have found everyone has different game syles, what they want out of the game etc... You will only know after you try. Research this site for char options also. What char you are will be important to your game play. Do you like melee? Be a DE or knight. Do you like magic? Be a wizard or elf. For a new player to be a Royal, I think , would be hard. Like, if you are new, who do you have join your pledge? But, after a time, you will want a royal for the extra storage space for all the crap you want to save "just incase" you need!
I play Ken server which is non-pvp. I like to play and kill monsters, not other players....
LoA has the greatest population of players and Dep is pvp. But I do have 4 chars on all 3 servers because we get Christmas gifts ;)
LOL!
GL to you and I hope you find a game you like!
Lineage has it good and bad
Lineage has it good and bad points, those points are dependant on how you like playing the game.
It has very little Binding gear, so twinking out a character is much less expensive as you can pass gear down from character to character. You can also sell your outdated gear to other players (usually at a lose).
It has very little gear, so getting set up in good gear is not hard (the rare gear is actually rare so obtaining that can be hard/expensive).
The enchanting system is +damage +hit only, it also is a gamble at a certain point. You may or may not get an improvement and its possible to destroy the item you were trying to improve.
It is grind oriented, you do not gain xp by doing quests. There are very few quests in lineage and those quests normally give class gear upgrades.
It has very few character/class choices, its loosely based off old D&D where the class was the race.
It has siege and unique pvp (you dont know what gear someone else has by thier avatar so gankings are a gamble)
It is easy to escape from a bad fight or area and easy to travel to your favorite hunting grounds.
Boss and Raid mops are easier to get at (not necessarly easier to kill) you dont have to waste 2-3 hours of your life getting to the Boss, but they spawn in a world enviroment so they are anyones game. Many spawn at a certain time and you will find players that camp those areas specifically to kill the boss when it spawns.
Solo play is very viable, your not forced to constantly be looking for a group in order to level or enter a dungeon. Group play is less likely to happen because most players lean towards solo play to level up and only group together to pvp or raid.
Most mop spawns are not based strictly on a timer. They are more or less based on a formula involving how many toons are in a particular area and how fast the mops are being killed. (this can be a good or bad thing)
Stats are very simple and doesnt require higher math to figure out what is best for your particular character or game play. A quick search on the offical form or post will yield you the optium build for your starting character with the type of game play you desire.
The crafting system is based on npc's. you collect the materials and speak to a npc to craft them. Elves both types have racial crafters they make talk with to craft gear (which then can be given or sold to non elf characters). Most materials are easy to get but may take several hours to get the amount needed.
Im sure there are other ups and downs i tried not to throw my personal opinions in there.
To keep it simple and
To keep it simple and short.
Its addicting and fun, and ez on your stomach since u wont feel like throwing up like in other 3d games.
Lineage is everything you
Lineage is everything you make it. But mostly its about the people. You wont get anywhere without people you can trust.
Its addicting. There is a grind, but you do not have to grind. If you are a mmorpg addict already, you will have no problem with lineage.
I stay for my friends. Nothing else.
