I've been gone from L1 for a long time now and I've finally decided to play it again. Have to take some time away from Lineage 2 as its gotten pretty bland lately.
I play other games besides mmos so I've got an 8800gts 640Mb in my machine at the moment and I've run into a problem with Lineage. I can update, select a server but after that it thinks for a second and just sits there. Nothing loaded into the task manager but if I swap over to my roomates machine (same setup but w/7600GT) it works without a hitch.
Anyone else out there with an 8xxx series card without problems in the game? I've been going back and forth with PlayNC support but they've stopped responding as quickly so I thought I'd check if anyone else is in the same boat.

Its most likely because its a DX10 card. I'm not sure of how to get it working seeing as it should work in dx9 compatibility mode. Try forcing compatibility by going to properties>advanced and seeing if you can get it to work that way. If nothing else buy a $40 pci-e card and put it in your second slot so you can play :P

I run dual 8800-Ultra 768meg cards in mine, and so dose my wife in hers, no problems here with it. Are you running in SLi or no? If you are try going into your SLi settings and setting your "SLi rendering mode" at AUTO or Single-GPU Rendering. When I take ours to AFR-1 or AFR-2 and Split Frame rendering it kinda goes nuts, so I keep them at AUTO if I am going in an out of Lineage alot. Or try a older driver for the card, that may help. Also, you running Vista or XP? If Vista right click on the Lineage Icon then set to run as Admin.

Well, I've formatted and reinstalled Windows and the only change is that it is a Lin.bin error now instead of just dropping out cold turkey. Hopefully reinstalling L1 instead of copying it from my other machine will work somehow.
Also, the 8800 is not in SLI and I'm running plain old WinXP SP2 (32bit).
I've got plenty of time to fix this as it now takes 7 days to delete a character X_X Guess I've got something to spend time on for now.

My wife got that Lin.bin error and I did the same thing Roo said, Downloaded the new Lin client from Lineage and it works fine now, as for the Video Card issue ya got me stumped there, as for the 7day wait time, just get the car to LVL29 and you can delete it rite away no wait time, ya it is a lot of guard smackin I usually get my mage to make my about 200 EBolt Scrolls to do it makes it easier than tring to punch or kick them
