I have some questions about hp/mp caps, DI monsters and elixirs, and MR. Sorry if this is a bit long-winded.
First of all, if you hit a cap, say the 800 hp cap for a mage, and cast Advance Spirit or put on an item that adds to HP, would you still be stuck at 800? Or would it go up from those spells/items, but just not increase with further levelling? Same obviously for MP.
Regarding elixirs, do bosses drop them more frequently than the regular mops, or are they just a waste of time (elixir-wise)? The rest of the monsters, does anyone know if they have roughly the same chance to drop elixirs? Or are some better than others? For instance, do fire eggs (which have 4 different elixirs to drop) drop 4x as many in total? And finally, about elixirs, if one hunt them effectively without stopping to regen, how many hours would it take to get one? I don't need the answer "ages", because that tells me nothing. Please try to estimate instead.
Finally, about DI monsters: Does anyone know whether ball lightning, fire eggs and will o wisps have major magic damage and little physical damage, or what their 'damage split' is like?
And the last question is about magic resist and elemental resist. If a person has 100% MR and 100% elemental res, do they then take 0 damage from the elemental spells? Just hypothetically, I know there are probably no wis-knights out there who have both the magic and elemental resist, but just trying to work out how it works. And against a certain spells, is magic resistance or elemental resistance any better? Ie, if a person cast erupt on me, is 60% earth resist any better or worse than 60% mr (for that specific spell.. obviously the MR is better if I am then struck by sunburst).
Thanks for any replies (and if anyone would be so kind to cross-post this to the official boards I'd appreciate it, since I am unable to post there).
Oh yeah, been away a bit, any prices plummeting on LoA yet from the crazy event I heard someone speak of?

100% MR means that 100% of
100% MR means that 100% of the time you are blocking 50% of the magic related damage. Im going to assume it works the same way for Elemental Resis(not 100% sure on that tho) ~ And thier are knights that have 100mr and 100er(with help of 20%mr prince spell).. I just never bothered to ask them this question tho but im sure they have an ez time tanking the dmge from dragons.
As for the HP Cap for mage.. You will never have that much hp so dont worry about it.
Im lvl 55 and I have around 500 hp as an 18con mage. But items will increase your hp over the cap if you ever do reach it and I belive the same could be said for advance spirit.
As for Elixers on DI, its justt luck.. you can spend 1 minute thier and get 1 elixer or spend 100s and 100s of hours and never get one.. the reason I say this is cause I know someone who just went thier to kill a boss and got an elixer and I ususly go to DI to unchao and kill everything and I never get an elixer.. its one of those super rare things that just happens or doesnt..
HP/MP caps. They are for
HP/MP caps. They are for base stats only. Items and spells can make it go above.
I have seen just as many elixirs from DI bosses as I have from the monsters. (Excluding Unicorns, they appear to not drop them.)
You could spend weeks there and not see one drop, or you could go for 30minutes and get one. Its very rare, and totally luck. I have personally spent over a week there killing everything I see, and never gotten one. I have gone for spurts of a couple hours and just farmed monsters in one area, killing everything on screen. And still have not gotten one. Yet, I know some people that have gotten 2+.
Prominence is mostly right on MR and ER. MR is the chance to cut the damage of the spell in half. Although, if you know you are going to go up a specific type of elemental magic, it would be better to use that elem ring over full mr.
For instance, Lesser Dragons are fire type. It would be better to do 60%MR and 60%ER than it would to do 80% MR.
Elemental MR is guaranteed damage reduction by that amount. If the spell can do 100 damage, and you have 60%ER, itll do 40 damage. If your MR also kicks in and blocks half, it will do 20damage.
If you are going up against multiple element types, or status effect spells, MR is best always. But in places like 41f, or killing a dragon, specific ER is better.
Also keep in mind that even though 100% and 100% will block all of the magic part of an attack, many magic attacks (like dragon attacks) also have physical attributes to them. So you will not block all the damage. (That would just make it to easy... Or else a knight with 100/100 would take almost no damage from a dragon.)
Got Blog?
you could spend every hour
you could spend every hour of every day hunting DI for elixirs and not get one.. its completely random, however most elixirs that i have heard about have dropped from bees and ice golems, i did get one from a water boss but then again, its just a random thing, they have a "no known drop frequency" listing for a reason, you can't put a number to it.
high hp and reg. MR are your best bets for all magic attacks.. having both will keep you alive.. IE during event at a fight, i survived 6 destroys on my knight w/ just under 1k hp with i2h.. without my MR i would have died (only got out w/ 11hp but i still lived)
