Random Disconnects Ahoy!

Some of ya'll are suffering from random disconnects.

Please please please fill out one of PlayNC's lovely support forms with your traceroutes/ping-plots etc!

This helps the network guys at NC to trace the cause of the problem, and hopefully beat 'em with a stick.

I think filling out these forms just makes us feel like they are doing something when really they just sit back and wait for the problem to resolve itself... o.O

Given how few of us still

Given how few of us still play, the % of those suffering who actually submit these must be really low.

In order to do any useful diagnostics on the data received, they'll need quite a high number of reports from different locations to look for common bad hops etc.

The best thing we can do is send 'em as many of these suckers as possible!

I wish I could help in this matter, but I have not experienced any lag since the Secret Island event (and that was only at home on dialup! =[ )

I know during the last event when my lag was unplayable, they did a pretty job of keeping me updated on what they were finding as more and more tickets trickled in. It was actually quite interesting to hear how a ticket from a different location helped plot where the problem was happening.

I haven't had the random

I haven't had the random D/C's (knocks on wood ,crosses fingers ) , but everytime I go into shop mode i D/C , must have to be a bot to not D/C in shop mode


I have been setting up shop

I have been setting up shop a lot more lately... And noticed that just about everytime I set up shop I crash, not dc, but crash. Always when I am entering the item prices, and always after I have like 10 things in the shop window already. After I type the amount (1000000 or w/e) and hit enter, it crashes... =/
Unrelated to the thread but... anyone else have this issue? Happens to me everyday.

I dont have any issues setting up shop.. my shop always runs to the morning from night untill my computer alarm clock kicks in and makes the client crash since it minimizes the screen but if i turn that off Itll run forever but I prefer to power down my electronics before I go out =)

When the shop gets set up,

When the shop gets set up, its fine, it will run all night. But I crash when setting the shop up. Always at the same time to. As I finish typing in the price of the item and hit enter. The second I hit enter, it crashes. It happens every day, so annoying. And it never happens on the first item I set up. It always happens on like the last, or near to last item I set up. So that when I crash I have to reset up every item over again...

Id rather crash and then come back and set them all up. Two many things to sell and buy, cant limit it to just 4!

Although it is definitely a game bug, and since yall dont have it, prolly a mac bug. (Which will put it on the list of bugs that will NEVER get fixed...) sigh

Actually, If someone at NC actually played lineage from home they would know where the trouble is.
When My company's connection was in trouble, I was always the first to know. I never got a complaint from any of my customer's prior to me knowing where the trouble spot was and contacting that particular vendor...

Pure and Simple, NC Austin has a bunch of wannabe's working there. They wannabe a network admin,
they just dont know how to do it.

They already know this, they just dont know what to do about it.

I really dont think NC cares about their server DOWNTIME or not being stable. I'm so tired of seeing my character back to the house couple hours once already. NC never solved any problem for the user just like BOTS!

Honestly, I dont! Have you ever fill those "Ask the question" form? Have you realized that how many emails that you have to made to have someone actually answer you in person? All they did is COPY and PASTE!!! I still see my screen freezed or being disconnect from the game. I have to say, my modem's doing fine, I'm still having my internet connection on. BUT my game's CLOSED! what's the point of having events but being randomly disconnect! And I have to tell u, I'm not the only one who's having that problem!

I have filled out the form. That's how I got my lag resolved during the last event.

It's brutal. It sucks. You DO get canned responses back for the first several emails before you can even start to make progress.

I don't disagree with any of that.

But there is no logical reason to think they don't WANT to help. It takes resources to go through all those emails, even if they just send back a stock response. If they didn't want to help they wouldn't even bother with that.

The truth is it's not as easy as many people think to figure out the one switch on the one server in the one town in the one state with the one ISP that has a problem.


I did NOT send any lag

I did NOT send any lag reports or trace routes to NC soft support during the boss event. And my lag resolved at the exact same time as yours (I would bet, at the reset. And I would bet it was the reset that fixed it by giving you a new path to the server. At the same time that ours cleared up, those that werent lagging before started to lag, because with the same server reset their path changed to.). I dont think it has anything to do with what they did on their end, and I dont think they did anything special for you (even though they may claim they did.)

I am sure sending the reports to them may help, but it seems I got the same results not sending it, and not wasting my time.

My lag, and all the mass lags like this, always start with a server reset, and always end with a server reset. Because at those resets my path to the server changes. Sometimes I go around the trouble spots (limelight for example) and sometimes it sends me right through them. Its just luck of the draw.

This is just from my experience. The only times there is mass lag that does not have anything to do with a server reset, is when the fault is actually at NC's servers and everyone feels it.

Actually mine cleared up at at 9 p.m. one night. I was on my elf healing the party and trying not to slow them down too much. I logged out for a few seconds to grab a drink and return a phone call; and when i logged back in it was gone.

Now I'm not an expert. I don't KNOW that they are actually doing anything with the information that we send them. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, though, that they need what they are asking us to send them to help fix the problem. If I ever learn they are putting me through this and just deleting my emails you'll see me really mad.

Lucky u, I dont. I'm still suffering. They do want to help, sure...after you have ur time and patience to write them couple letters, they will. I'm so tired of hunting 10% and drop 8% a day already. Hopefully this will be solved soon.

I can empathize with you. Just keep sending them what they ask for. Encourage other people to do the same. And try to have faith that it will get fixed eventually.

OMG...
I honestly have only lag/dc died ONCE before this freakin week.. now I lag ALL THE TIME..
I am spending more time login in to lin than PLAYING lin...
and it is driving me sooo crazy..
I hope this reset fixes the issue and I have no doubt that the issue is on lin's end and not mine...
but if this keeps up for another 2 months when it comes time to pay my lin bill I might have to buy myself some new shoes instead.

and I added a few more deaths to the list...
why did I pay 4 months in advance?
If this keeps up in Oct I am so not paying NC again...
