That sucks but atleast u

That sucks but atleast u wernt banned for somehting u didnt do.

its an absolute crock that

its an absolute crock that the item cannot be restored. I could see if it was dropped or blew by mistake because that could be someone trying to undermine the system, but deleting a item by mistake shouldn't be a problem to fix. All it takes a little bit of lag and you could easily delete something by mistake or even drop a item. I've done it with wafers before all because of a 2-3 second lag spike.

I still hate the fact that I

I still hate the fact that I am so used to dismissing summons, that I once dismissed a high pet (there is no "Are you sure?(y/n)" prompt on dismissing pets (I think there should be!)) They said they could not restore high pets at this time!

Hmm, Im not really sure I

cdbartender's picture

Hmm, Im not really sure I understand the situation. The reply from GM L seems to be saying that it was your fault, as if you deleted the sword on your own. And you are speechless beacause you didnt delete it and it was a system error? lf thats the case, than I have to say NCSoft wont even restore item steal by hackers, I dont see no reason why would they restore your sword for whatever other reason you might have. (Although I dont think me saying this will make you feel any better!!)

I did the same thing with my

I did the same thing with my Obelt.

They didnt restore it.

Got Blog?

the whole point is, the last

the whole point is,
the last thing you clicked on in your inventory stays highlighted.
even hours after you clicked on somthing perhaps to equip your sword? or even just clicking on it to stare in awe of your best item..

then say you scroll to the very bottom of your inventory and see you have some old pledge mail hanging out, you get the wise idea * Hey ill do some house cleaning*
press your shift key and highlight your junk and say toss**** then poof your mail and the last thing you had viewed even hours ago are gone.. and it doesnt discriminate it just flat junks it..
no way to retrieve it.. there should be a feature to view your junk before deleting it.. just like the recycle bin in windows... but wait.. that would mean actually doing somthing for the community you represent..

and we all know NC Austin doesnt do that.

do they Mr Fracas..

Well, since I lost my obelt

Well, since I lost my obelt by my own stupidity... It is preventable in the future...

When you click delete, it does give you a warning. Are you sure you want to delete this # of items? yes/no

Count the highlighted items in your inventory, read the number, make sure they match, click yes.

There is a way to stop it from happening. NC can not prevent user stupidity, or short sightedness. The mechanism to stop you from deleting your items is in place already, you just have to take advantage of it.

Huge bummer :( BTW, there

Jesy's picture

Huge bummer :(
BTW, there is no longer a 'dismiss' button on pets.
I lost my high Shep that way and was told, 'we do not restore high pets at this time'.
Evidentley, nothing is restored :(
I do not claim to know how things work, but it seems to me, if you can tell me what item I took out of my personal storage and at what time, that said item could be replaced because you know exactly what it was.....

ouch u lost ur +8sos well

ouch u lost ur +8sos well whenn i delete alot of junnk i highlight them all then i move them as a doubble checking procedure mmaybe u should try doinng this too

As I first heard about this

Taivaltaja's picture

As I first heard about this I also thought that of course they give/create the item back to you, because it was not dropped or accidentally blowed. But when rethinking NCA's side, I also see why they do not want to do this.

As we have people in game who seems to spend most of their time to only figure out and ruin other people's fun, I'm sure there would be the same kind of problem if NCA would restore deleted items. Now I know it may sound silly, but people could just mail the support and demand that their accidentally deleted "important mail" will be restored just so it, or some other "important mail" can be deleted again.

Now I am not saying NCA should not restore things in situations like these, but I understand somekinda line is needed to protect their end also from the moronic people who seems to crawl under the rocks at every situation there is a chance to misuse it somehow. So maybe we could brainstorm something to help both players and NCA in these kinda situations? We all know how easily accidental item deletion can happen (as we already see from the replies) and how annoying it can be, even to the point player quits the game because of what happened.

But figuring out reasonable way to do item restoring ain't easy task and that's most likely why NCA has just decided that none of the deleted items will be restored, even at situation like this it might seem careless and cruel for their customers. After all, the support work has to be organized at some level and not just restore items with common sence. That kind of behavior could seem like a way to go for us, but it would create lots of inconsistency and thus trouble at NCA's end. Could they have a list of items they will restore, so that they do not need to bother with every junk some malicious people are bugging them to restore? How we decide what is junk and what's not? The item that might seem not worth the trouble for some rich player, might mean world to player that started couple months back. Also there would still be a loophole, where someone could keep deleting approved item over and over and demanding it back: could NCA in this kind of situation decline the restoring, would there be some legal problems? Or should there be some amount of restores that are given to every account after there is no hope? Could bots use even this with their countless accounts just to drain even more manpower at NCA's end?

After all this, by one sitting I cannot really figure out a practical way item restoring could be done in organized enough way for NCA O_o Maybe accidental deleting of items (added to the common account sharing >_<) is one of the reasons why NCK has sealing system for items at their servers. Maybe this system could be used somehow for our purposes? We would not need to seal items to protect item theft by account sharing, so maybe the sealing scrolls could be bought from shops, same as unsealing ones? Would not create additional need for manpower at NCA's end (that I see of) to unseal the items later. But maybe the usage of these kinda scrolls would be too big of a hassle in the end for them to really be used to prevent accidentally deleting some valuable.

So as conclusion, I really hope they would restore your sword in this situation and I think many NCA employee hope they could too (I wish so at least O_o). But because of the people who seem to exist only to ruin everything, I also see why NCA has taken a practice not to do so :(

I see why they dont do it

I see why they dont do it to.. kinda. In cases like this, where it is clear it was accident (with mail, as in my case) I dont see why they dont restore it. The player is not profiting from it. They are only getting back what they accidentally lost. Nothing more, nothing less. But this also seems to be, one of those very unique cases, where NC actually sticks to the precedents they have set from past times. They havent done it for anyone in the past, so they cant do it for you. Why?

Because if they restore yours... I am going to complain till I get mine back to. And that train will continue, as others will complain I am sure to. I know of many people that have deleted items. Everything from TOI charms to pets.

I hope you get your sword back, thats a tough thing to lose. But I wouldnt count on it.

Got Blog?

Thats why I always highlight

Prominence's picture

Thats why I always highlight what i want to delete then click 1 item to lose all highlights then highlight again and double check before i delete and I only delete 3-4 things at a time cause you can drag the highlighted items to align properly so I can see what im deleting..

but ya man, it sux to lose an expensive item like that. but I know the feeling.
Just dont quit over it.. the game aint over til its over! you can always make it back

I understand where you guys

I understand where you guys are comming from as far as how to avoid it, but clearly its not rocket science to restore the item and if you were going to go through the trouble of reporting exactly what happend to the item that was deleted then why not just spend the extra 2 seconds to restore the item?

I have first hand expirience with restoring an item into the database and it only takes a second.
also any newbie can write a quick utility to perform these tasks during a server reset..

its just plain lazy on nc's behalf..

my humble opinion
