So NC's meet-up on the 22nd is all fully booked... BOO!
Given that I'm travelling 1/2 the way across the globe I'd like to try and meet as many of your crazy loonies as possible.
How does everyone feel about hooking up either on the Saturday after NC's bash, or on Sunday for drinks & possibly a meal (you'll have to pay your own way I'm afraid... these tickets are costing me a small fortune!)
If there's enough interest, we'll try and organise something.

How much is everyone willing to spend?
Do you want a quiet place or more of a lively atmosphere? (Majority generally wins)
Is late afternoon or evening best?
General age of all attendees: 21 and up, 18 and up, or under 18?
Do you guys want to do something after all the chatting (a movie, etc.)
What part of town? North Austin is the area where we're having the PlayNC meet-up.
Now is the time to speak up with all this and more :) I'll help you guys plan out an agenda since I do live in Austin.
Btw, I'll be out of town starting this Thursday. I will return back to work the following Wednesday. I'll be at Penny Arcade, so if any of you guys are going, that's where I will be :)
Also remember that we will be at Dave and Busters, and it WILL be open to the public that evening. So even if you don't get inside the party room we can still go out and have fun gaming. I'm sure everyone from the meet-up will be doing that at some point.

Austin is definitely a party
Austin is definitely a party town... But its not THAT lax. As long as you dont cause trouble you are fine, but dont do anything stupid... They will still bust a minor walking around with something. And the only time you have a chance to get away with those certain other illegal things, is if its like a concert venue, mostly just outside... Where everyone is doing it anyways. And Austin has one of the best concert/music scenes in America.
I really want to move back to Austin, if only Fracas would offer me a job to give me a reason to =P

Well yeah, as always it depends on the situation. I mean, smoke in someone's back yard or around west campus... you're probably fine. Walk into the Four Seasons and light up a joint in the lobby and it might be an issue.
We also have a special 'vice squad' police force in Texas whose only job is to bust people for drinking/smoking. They will bust *somebody*, but as long as you're not acting like an idiot, it's much easier for them to just find the guy who is. Pee on the hood of a squad car and things might not go so well.

I would love to go but my work schedule is too hectic for me to go all the way to Austin. I get off at 7:30am on Saturday then I have to be at work at 7am on Monday...so I would be spending like $300 to be in Austin for one day. Hope they do this again some time would love to be able to see you guys in person.

Sorry, D&B is a 7.... maybe even 8 minute drive away from me. I don't think I'm crazy enough to drive all that way.
Seriously though, I'm signed up to attend and I'm 97% sure I'll be there unless my business in Australia gets moved up. If you want some tips for things to do in Austin:
The Salt Lick -- A half hour drive, but probably the most famous BBQ in all of Texas
County Line -- Not quite so famous BBQ, but very very good and about 5 minute drive from D&B (and, coincidentally, about 30 seconds from NC Soft HQ)
The Alamo Draft House -- Movies, food, beer. That's right.
6th Street -- Our club/bar district. Not sure what's playing that weekend... I know Yo La Tengo is in town the week before, but I'll check the papers.
Water -- There are a number of different lake/river/springs around Austin, and any number of different things to do in them. My favorites are: Hamilton Pool, Barton Springs, the Comal river, etc.
So anyway, assuming I'm in town, I'm happy to play tour guide for a day as long as nobody tries to mug me for my iron boots. I know how you internet folk can be wack-jobs, so keep in mind that we ARE in Texas, people DO have guns, and it IS legal to kill a man in self-defense as long as he's facing you (or you turn the body over and shoot it in the front to make it look like your first shot just spun him around!). Welcome to Texas! Looking forward to it!
