hp/mp gains on level up

what does everyone think about this? why is it random within a fixed range based on your con? i think hp and mp should be the same for all players based on their class and con. i dont see the point to the way it is now, it just causes people to get frustrated when they get low gains per level up when others of the same class/con get larger ones. now i realize that in the end it might be a 30hp/10mp difference but that's 30hp/10mp people would like to have. is it possible to correct this?
please excuse me if this topic has been discussed before.

It'll never happen, it adds randomeness (spelling?) to the characters.
Just like in the good ol days when instead of comps we had pen, paper and a DM
ya used dice to get your ups .. wheither 6 sided, 8 sided etc. etc. It helps to make
each and every character unique (spelling again? I suck) and I don't believe this
will ever change nor would I personally support it.
I understand where your coming from, getting low ups aint fun. It might take 3 tries
running a character up to 30 before ya get the target points your lookin' for so ya
roll with it to 45 then there's no guareentee (ha .. spelling eh) that at 48 the one that
had the best will still be the best !!

Randomness adds a certain

Randomness adds a certain chance value to this game or else everyone will be the same at the mention of how much con a player has I will automatically know how much HP he/she has. What's the point?

The fun is not in having a robotic community of players with the same amount of HP/MP across all classes. It's about playing the class you prefer, sticking by it and watching it grow as it levels whether the HP sucks or not. Can't imagine an 18 con mage having the same HP as a 18 con knight.

you do not understand what i am saying. i am not saying every class should have the same hp/mp depending on their con. I am saying based on your class and con all hp/mp should be the same. for example 18con knights should have the same hp/mp if they are the same level say at 50. this does not mean that 18 con elves will have the same hp as knights at level 50. Elves will only have the same hp/mp within the elf class based on their con. I am talking about within classes, not between them. This only makes sense. why does their have to be a range with hp/mp gains? The only kind of people that can argue against this saying that this is "boring", "i dont want to be the exact same" and we need "randomness" are the ones that get good hp gains so they can have the advantage against other players with the same class/stats.

In the real world all

In the real world all peoples are not created equal. being created equal is a farce and unrealistic.

In life we whom have the same con experience life and all its trials differently. some may get sick more than others or be exposed to chemicles or other poisons that could lower ones ability to take damage and keep a high immune system with high endurance to pain and as well the ability to withstand damage from extrabodily traumas.

randomness is more a function of chance, "environmental factors", that affects the development of the body and its strengths and weaknesses.

a knight who grew up near industrial sites may not have the same ability to withstand disease as one whom grew up in the country. The numbers he was created with will not guarantee the same immune system responses as he develops.( random gains hp/mp)

I agree somewhat, my bro was 5 levels lower than me at one time and he had higher base HP/MP than I did. I've had some really bad luck with HP/MP rolls :(

The argument to make all Stat/Class matches the same is like saying .. all Males born in America
should have blue eyes. or that ALL Females born in Rowanda should have Long Legs ...
If you think your character sucks .. delete it and try again or run with its uniqueness.
Anyone who has played two Characters of the same Race and Class in the old school PnP with honesty (actually rolling ONCE per stat and recording it) saw the Character, Attitude and Play style that evolves form the uniqueness of each individual "build" as it were.
I duno .. I guess if you want a form controled system and template for the people then I'd say ....

i play 2 characters :) same

i play 2 characters :) same class, but i play them with completely different styles
both knights btw, one of em, i only use a bow, the other...a lil more conventional :) both 50+ too :)
both started out as 18con...and have vastly different hp/mp scores

hmm i think a npc should be added that lets you reroll your lvl ups at random at whatever lvl you are for a cost of 10m or something like this that way you can't just do it tell you get the best hp but to have to sacrifice a little bit to get some. Also i have the same problem with lvl ups , i talked to a few people and most have more hp on their de at lvl 52 then me at 56 and when i was lvl 55 i found a lvl 49 de that had the same base hp as i did.

Scenario A:
Str knight, levels to 55+, adds con the whole way, rerolls with ur system, and has the str of a str knight, the con and HP of a con knight (that started with whatever con this puts them at, probably at least 20), but did it in less time because str knights level faster. So it hits like a str knight but has more HP than a con knight that spent way more time leveling up to have that hp.

Scenario B:
Con/Int mage
Levels to 55+, adding wisdom the whole way. Rerolls using your system...
Now is a con/wis/int mage, with the hp of a con mage, the int of an int mage, and instead of the mp of a 16wis mage, they have the mp of a mage that was 23wis from the START(level 1), which would give them over 700mp base at level 56 ish. With half the work.

Too exploitable...
Add con to 25, reroll using your system, and have the HP of a character that added to 25con, delvled to 10, and then relvled to 55+, with out having to do the delvling/relvling. Twice the HP, half the work.

They can lock it to where you can't do it if you add to a stat after its base, and even not let it go past stat of 18 con or wis, there is very easy fixes for something you try to make seem so complicated sk8.

I'm not sure if I'd consider it an "exciting" thing to wonder about but when I level up, I am just glad to be one more step toward catching up with Moli! (HaHa! Yeah right!)
Suppose, for example, when you finally reach level 50, and you have that horrible level 49 behind you, done, finished, never to do again, you were given a set 4hp/2mp level up? Wouldn't that be a nice reward for getting through level 49?
I dun think so.......
Anyway, in my humble opinion, it should be a random thing ;)
