&Towards the end of the day, NCsoft held a raffle; giving away two NCsoft-branded iPods and LOADS of other goodies.

It seems that during the event, reversed-in-game-luck applied. Those of us who have zero in-game luck came away with great stuff - Chryses won himself a Wireless keyboard & mouse, Cainna scooped a Tabula Rassa T-Shirt and guess who won an iPod...

That's right! Me! Although I kinda won by default. They called out a number and no-one claimed, so they pulled another ticket out and it was mine! weeee!

After the raffle, CuppaJo (NCsoft Community Team) started throwing goodies out into the crowd.

She was then joined by a City of Heros "super fan", also star of the TV Show "Who wants to be a super hero"... The PlayNC merchandise was quite literally falling out of the sky!

Jimador managed to grab himself a PlayNC game-time card in the madness that ensued!

Well ... that was great

Chryses's picture

Well ... that was great fun.

I landed in Austin early Friday morning and flew out Sunday night. Everyone from in game was great. Roo, Cainna and I all stayed in the same hotel; and despite the fact that I am the old man of the group an my entire daily schedule is shifted up about four hours compared to the hours those two keep, we had a wonderful time ... Getting around and hanging out in Roo's room then running off to have lunch, dinner, drinks or some other activity with various members of the NCSoft staff past and present.

Lucky and Jimador rolled into town Friday morning. I had gotten up and was setting outside waiting for everyone else to rise when this guy sits down on the bench across from me and says "Hey, you haven't seen a British guy running around here have you?" So I immediately figure one of two things is happening: Either this is Lucky looking for us or Roo pissed someone off when we rolled in drunk the night before. Fearing it might have the been the latter given our (my) condition the night before, I did a little prodding before I let the secret out.

We met Sk8, Cosa and Morticae at the event. They were all great people as well. Lineage I got abused during the event -- none of the merchandise was Lineage I and we didn't even get our logo on the goody bag; but we were the only title for which the development team went out with the players. So EAT THAT LINEAGE II.

I'm back at work today and need to play catchup, but I'll post some more later and get some more of the pictures I took uploaded tonight.

If it werent for Fracas and

If it werent for Fracas and Crickette wanting to hang out with us after the event... I would have said that the Lineage1 aspect of the meet and greet was a complete bust. Other than the TS (finally a lineage ts!), and the signed posters, I was really let down by the lack of Lineage1 anything at the meeting. We werent on the goody bag, we werent on the big screen showing all the games, there was no Lineage1 things in the goody bag...

All the free stuff they were throwing out and raffling... Was a let down. (I dont want Tabula Rosa TS's and dog tags!) At least I got a few free game cards.

Although being able to chat with the big guy definitely made up for it all... Yall should have gone! So much inside info about the game.

I agree. Many thanks to the

I agree. Many thanks to the Lin1 team for braving our company. I know it can be a little scary crossing the real life boundary (for good reasons, as we discussed a bit at around 3am), and I appreciate their willingness to do so outside of the safety of the convention.

It's insane that in this game the "new players" are the ones that have "only" been around for 4 or 5 years. I think that says a lot about what kind of game this is. Or maybe it just says something about us? I don't know, but it's certainly not something you encounter many other places.

Haha, that reminds me of

Haha, that reminds me of Kazaa's comment about not going out to these things without her bullet proof jacket on.

Yeah, I mean it's funny, but

Yeah, I mean it's funny, but kinda serious too. Crazy stuff happens around these games... especially once real life money gets involved. I guess they had a chance to test the waters a bit at the meet and greet, but still. I don't know if any of them were around at the time (Kyzah maybe?), but they have had incidents here in the past.

I've got lots of terrible cellphone-camera pics I'll throw up once things die down here at work.

After we closed the first

Chryses's picture

After we closed the first "after hours establishment" Saturday we headed back to Dave & Busters for a nightcap. We had a nice long talk with Fracas about the game, the bots, the hacks, the new content and the events.

When they literally kicked us out of the place, we went outside and continued stand around chatting about the game for another two hours.

I've said this before, but I am even more convinced after having gone to Austin ... these people care a great deal about the game and the community. You won't always get what you want whether it's in Lineage or in life, but they do what they do for a reason and they are genuinely interested in player input.

Fracas spent a solid three hours Saturday just quizzing us about what we like and don't like, where we see the bots, how we would stop them, what events are good, how they can be better, what kind of new content we would like to see and what kind of balance tweaks the game needs. He probably spent another two hours explaining what they can do, what they can't do and why.

It was a great experience both from the standpoint of the people I got to meet and hangout with but also for the background information we got on the inner-workings of the game. I wish I could go into it here because many of the people who spend so much time complaining would better understand why some things are the way they are. But, as I said, it took two hours to explain it and I doubt anyone would spend two hours reading it even if I wanted to spend that long typing.

Anyway ... more later.

Best,

C.

Actually some of the inside

Actually some of the inside info we found out I worry we shouldnt post. Cause it would be better if that inside info stayed out of the hands of cheaters.

If anyone wanted to take the time I would gladly read it! I am a sponge when it comes to information. I love learning about virtually anything. (I love winning at trivial pursuit =-] ) If you think it is something that is too important to share in public. Send me a pm please I would love to learn it =]

Chryses is a much better story teller, and probably got way more info than I did, so I will let him write it all up when he gets a chance.

Hola- I had a great

Crickette's picture

Hola-

I had a great time...it was really fun to meet all the folks who showed up for Lineage. It certainly made an impact at the event! Even the ole' Capt showed up :) Once I saw him I steered him right over to the Lineage table.

I really didn't feel the need to wear a bullet proof vest - I think it is always easier to converse in person. Online, you can go back and forth with someone online for a long time before you feel like you are going somewhere. But in person, you both can be on the same page in just a matter of minutes. Text just is just too impersonal by nature.

The only time I felt the need to wear a bullet proof vest was when I was walking the line during registration sign-in. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication and some non-registered people from one product were told to show up EARLY. In reality, they needed to show up LATE because we had to see how many registered folks were no-shows first. (We had to be careful of the fire code.) I felt it was my duty to let people know BEFORE they waited in line all that time. And for that, I'd rather be the bad guy for that who gets yelled at, even if all of that was beyond my control.

We did want to have a Lineage video running in the background (Lineage I wasn't the only one excluded) but we ran into problems, and it just couldn't be added in time. Either way, we weren't really doing this to promote any game. We just didn't have the bandwidth to promote them all - although TR did have a QnA session, we couldn't do it for all the games. (Unless we wanted to make this a multiple day event or something like that.) I wouldn't say it was because it was Lineage is an older game - not all products have swag present like Lineage did, nor did all of our games have a table set up.

We had a few press people, but the press wasn't really invited. We weren't really doing this to promote any product. This was for existing players to meet with other players, where folks could really get to know that person they've hung out with in-game. It works both ways: the players from other games weren't really interested in talking about any games they currently didn't play - just like you guys weren't interested in hearing about anything that wasn't Lineage. Understandable, of course.

And yeah, the L1 folks really cleaned up the raffle. Thank GOODNESS I was not the person pulling out the winning tickets, because then I think I would have been accused of tampering ;) We had a few Lineage II winners too, and GW and COH was almost completely shut out.

Overall, we had some great nights (I'm sorry I'm such an old Lady, I always started to daze out past 12:30am) great conversations, and good times with hugs all around.

And Roo - THANKS for posting a pic of me and my behind up there. ha.

I'll get you.....just teasing, of course.

OR AM I???

Umm.. you're welcome, I guess? :P

Hi guys!!! Yes I am back!!

Cosa's picture

Hi guys!!! Yes I am back!! x.x !!! (sorry roo that i dont post as much as i used to in this page x.x :P!!)

Well omg, as everybody else, i had a blast!!!

Sk8 n I got there really early, so we had a few drinks and played some games, then everybody got there at once!!!
I did see what Crikette had to go thru at the line when she asked ... "who is not registered?" and there was more than 20 ppl raising their hands x.x i saw her face "saying" "OH NO!!!!!"
I gotta say, I was upset at those ppl who tried to make it a big deal x.x they almost yelled at her... but she really knew how to handle it, eventhough she looked a lil scared hehe

Well we were one of the first ones there and the very first thing we asked was.. "WHERE IS FRACAS?????"!! YA.. we had to get him alone before everybody else so we could ask him some questions. I gotta say, he is everythin i expected! Uber nice person who i could tell, loves the game and his job. I had the opportunity to say "fracas u are doing a great job", ya he makes mistakes, but i think i make bunches of those everyday, they are just part of life. He was willing to answer every question we had.
We had a long conversation about bots and lil bugs and he got to learn a lil more about us.
I dont think he has any doubt that we love this game o.o!

Cainna, Lucky, ROO!!, Mr C, and Jimador! omg, they are super nice ppl. We had a blast talking to each other and taking pics x.x well... i didnt bring my camera... but they took so many pictures... that I think we can "borrow" some of those heheh
I gotta admit I was so happy to meet them all, I gave each one of them a big hug.
I would have to say that if they wouldnt have been there, it would have been kind of boring, they made the night fun!!
I loved Crikette's personality. She had this pretty smile and was very outgoing, made everybody feel welcomed.

After the event, we went out with all of them, as everybody mentioned. Mortice... omg what a nice guy!!! Thanks so much for all those drinks o.o!!! It was so nice of you, and really, you didnt have to!!!!!
But ty so much, I really appreciate it!!!! I had a blast, and eventhough i left early (12:30 am) i had a blast with all of you.
Kazza was super nice as well. I had seen her name before, but never had the opportunity to really meet her.

Well i could go on and on about this.. but would be a longggg story. I just wished i had a few more days to hang out with all of you.

Rooooooooooooooooo im off wednesday, if u wanna come to SA o.o it would b fun!! :P!!

Oh!! and thanks "NC" for the 4 months of free game time v.v

I thought it was great (and hysterical) that as we sat drinking beer and talking about the game, Kyzah became more and more inclined to renew her account. It just goes to show that you never completely break the Lineage I addiction.

Yeah - Rock on Kyzah!
