I am an old-time Lineage player and I am stupid when it comes to where I should hunt to level fast without breaking the bank or dying too often.
Here are my stats:
Level 49 Dex Elf (Wind)
413 HP (with items --> BOS and Orc Ammy)
236 MP (with items --> BOS)
Weapon: +6 Ancient Bowgun (b-dai went +1 :P)
Armor: -63 ac buffed (normal)
ALA
+5 Bracer
+4 Boots (have +5 i-boots on mage)
+6 EC (have +5 b-comr on mage)
+6 ES
+7 BOE
+7 ETS
(I don't think I missed anything)
I usually hunt FV, Ivory Tower floors 6-8, Heine Cave floors 3 & 4, and DV. I do FV and DV for the experience and IT and Heine Caves for b-teles, mana pots, and the occassional zel/dai.
Any advise is welcome and thanks in advance.

Switch to earth and hunt on
Switch to earth and hunt on ToI 34, killing skeletons. You can get close to 1 percent an hour at 49 safely once you get it down.
Start on 31 (obviously) get used to using earth bind and entangle effectively to manage the spawn and move up to 32 then 33 then 34.
Take about 25-30 OJs and plenty of spirit gems. If you do it correctly you will actually increase your OJs over the course of a hunt because they drop pretty commonly. You will also get plenty of nzels to cover the cost of the spirit gems and still turn a profit.
I took my elf from 49.15 to 50.05 on ToI 34 very quickly. I contend it's the best place for a pre-50 elf to level.
I would be up to trying this
I would be up to trying this out, but the part about getting the lvl 31 scrolls is what will stop me for a bit ;).
I am more interested it getting my feet wet on the lower levels of ToI first, but I am all for jumping right in and see what happens.
I bet you could handle the
I bet you could handle the outer area of TOS fine. Its good exp. And the occasional soul stone drop will pay for your pots. They are selling for over 350k each.
And you work on your karma along the way.

What about the lower levels
What about the lower levels of ToI?
31-34 are geared towards
31-34 are geared towards elves and knights with rapiers ( and other undead weapons). Things die pretty fast there when using the right equipment.
What would be the "right"
What would be the "right" equipment?
In your case any arrow with
In your case any arrow with extra undead damage ... ie. silver.
You can cut your teeth on other floors, but honestly I think you will find 31 easier than the anything below it.
I will see if I have any 31
I will see if I have any 31 floor scrolls tonight and try my luck with killing. I will go as wind to test, but then decide whether I want to switch to earth or not...
Which Wind or Earth to to level?
Personally, I am a BIG
Personally, I am a BIG believer in earth ... especially pre-level 50.
I simply cannot put into words how helpful earthbind and entangle were compared to other lines. They allowed me to hunt places I otherwise could not hunt. They made ToI 34 a piece of cake for me compared to a lot of other level 49 elfs I knew who were wind or water.
The best part is none of the low level spells are terribly expensive. You can easily switch to experiment and switch back if you don't like it. All told you will be out 50k at the most for the experiment, and that's if you don't have a pledgemate who already has all the spells you need.
If you are locked into low-end areas (fv and owl, for example) wind is probably better. You never get overwhelmed in those places so just use wind to maximize your kill speed. The same might hold true of the outer area of the Temple of Shadows ... the mops come really slowly so you don't need earthbind and they are ranged so entangle is no help.
I switched to water a while back for NB and haven't switched back since I have been playing my mage mostly anyway, but I do occasionally take the elf up to ToI 41 to hunt 51 scrolls for pledgemates who don't have a charm. Up there, I REALLY miss my earth spells.
you will make back the price
you will make back the price of 31f scrolls with the nzels u get -.^

I was just browsing
I was just browsing LineageDB and was wondering how good or bad are the Elemental Ruins and Abyss.
Both are very fun places to
Both are very fun places to hunt for a small group (1-3) and can be very profitable.
I used to live in Abyss lake for leveling (over 200% of sk8's exp was made there)
And I used to OWN Elemental ruins before they baby moded it... Was one of few that could hunt there for hours without getting swamped... I had it figured out =P Now its easy to hunt there tho and even bots have invaded. You know a place is made to easy when a bot can hunt there =/

From the looks of the entry locations, it didn't look too difficult to locate.

Whisper me in game. I'll get you the stuff you need to make your charm if you don't already have it. It saves you from having to run through the dungeon every time you want to go.
Charm O.O! Well, never knew
Charm O.O! Well, never knew there was a charm for that place, nice.
The easiest way to get to
The easiest way to get to the Elemental Ruins (which in turn takes you to Abyss Lake) is through the teleport pad in the northern region of PI area 1.
In order to use that teleport pad, you must have the charm. The only way to get the charm is to travel to the fourth floor of the Pirate Island Caves and speak to the npc there that creates it.
