Elemental MR suggestion (Posted on Lineage Boards by Sk8)

Everyone is always looking for new class bonuses and level up incentives... I thought of one over the weekend and figured I would run it passed all of you people...

Elemental MR is a very stagnant stat. These new tshirts gave me an idea...

What if we add a way to make elemental MR not so stagnant...

What if every class got a bonus of 1 to each elemental MR every 5 levels. Its not much, but itll add up. And it gives a bonus to low levels and high levels alike (even you Tissot).

So, a level 50 would have gained 10 of each elemental MR giving them a base of 10, and further upgraded thru gear/rings and spells.

Its not a lot, would barely even be a noticeable difference when in use.. But it would give people a nice little bonus and something to look forward to..

"Woot, level 45! Yay I got 1 more of each elemental bonus!"

Just an idea... Discuss?

I don't know that I would do

I don't know that I would do it that way. It allows some classes to get pretty crazy elemental resistance, which in some areas is far, far, far superior to regular magic resistance.

That said, I would like to see something done on this front.

My suggestion has long been to allow rings to be enchanted for an increase of effect.

I would make the elemental rings do one of the following:

A) They are like bone so they can blow on the first enchant and the chances go up with each successful enchant, but you get one more elemental resistance for each enchant level. A +3 earth ring gives 33 instead of 30 earth resist.

B) They enchant like a normal +4 safe item, but they only give a bonus on even enchants so a +4 gives 2 extra resist, +6 gives 3, etc.

This would both give us an option to increase that elemental resistance further AND get some of the rings that dropped like crazy during that Halloween event out of the economy.

Your way gives the same

Your way gives the same classes the same ability to get the same outrageous ElemR. o.o

Btw, the classes you are referring to are Knights mostly. As they can get the highest ElemR. Elves next. But, nothing passed 100% helps so it doesnt matter if it helps a knight/elf get from 110% to 120%... Its still just 100%.

The suggestion mostly helps mages/de's/royals as currently the best they can get is 94% or 99% with the new tshirts if they got em.

Got Blog?

Well ... the difference

Well ... the difference would be that giving one every 5 levels hands anyone level 50 10 resistance to ALL elements.

My way makes the outrageous elemental resistance available to all classes, but it would be much harder to obtain. You would have to get two bone rings to +5 or two regular enchant ring to +10 to get the same bonus you would give to everyone who hits level 50. You would have to manage to get what would be equal to a +5 bone item or a +10 armor eight times to have it on all resistances. When you start talking about what the rings would have to look like to match that of a 55, 60 or 65 player under your suggestion you are talking about enchanting goals that are virtually impossible.

Even if it stops helping at 100% (I've heard the damage reduction maxes at 100, but the chance to avoid the attack altogether continues to increase past that point), it still helps those classes who can get high elemental resistance as much as and perhaps more than other classes because they can then start talking about getting 100% elemental resistance without one of their rings and perhaps without either ring. That means 100% elemental resistance with higher, and perhaps even 100%, regular magic resistance.

A level 50 knight for example would get 10 extra elemental resistance. With the dragon armor that would become 60. With an elemental cloak that would become 70. So they could wear one ring to get to 100 and get 10 more magic resistance than before with a 10% ring.

I'm not opposed to the idea of putting more elemental resistance in the game (although I would appreciate a firm and official explanation of how it works first), but I think if you are going to do it you might as well have it serve a dual purpose like thinning the number of elemental rings on the servers.

I can almost hear the

I can almost hear the screams of elves if they got this.

More elemental resistance is

More elemental resistance is not a bad thing for PvM.

Yup I would love it for PvE

Yup I would love it for PvE too, but the concern would end up being people from dep/loa who are elves and who do pvp wondering why their damage gets a slight nerf.
For balance if they were to implement this, would it be possible to make the 'natural' resistance be PvM only while not affecting PvP damage at all.
