The last year wasn't the best for NCSoft regarding Lineage, they lost 16% in the 2nd Quarter alone but Lineage is still their 2nd best income source (US$27.6 million) after Lineage II.
It seems that Lineage has no real mentor within NCSoft anymore, since Jake Song, the creator of Lineage, has left NCSoft. We all felt the impact of his quit in either way and especially the Mac-Users who haven't seen any real client update since than.
Like every year its time to take a look behind the scenes again, are there any news about Lineage 1 our MMORPG of all time? Well, there are news...
First thing mentionable is for sure that Robert Garriott (brother of "Lord British" Richard Garriott) isn't CEO of NCSoft North America anymore, Chris Chung will be taking over his position on 1st Jan. 2008. Chris Chung was the vice president for worldwide product development. I wonder how this will have an effect on Lineage 1 - I really hope for one, because Robert Garriott had no real interesst pushing Jake's 'child' Lineage further. Well, 2008 will show us.
I found a short statement from R.G. in the Press-Section on NCSoft.com regarding Lineage:
Robert Garriott’s NCsoft North America Year in Review:
Maybe we'll see a fixed Lineage.com website, maybe we'll be able to play with the all new Lineage-Client that is in the works this year? However, something will change.

I just wish it is for the

i dont even thing R.G. even
i dont even thing R.G. even KNOWS whats going on with lineage, I'm sure if he caught wind of the screw ups going on left and right, changes would of been made long ago....
I think they keep hoping
I think they keep hoping Lineage 1 will die so they can move on to "real" games but it keeps running.
The funniest part is that all of their other games basically failed.
True, they tried to push all
True, they tried to push all the 3D titles but most of them totally failed. Sadly there isn't even a Lineage I product page on www.ncsoft.com, you have to browse it via the 'All Games' link.
Although offically there is no bad word about Jake Songs sack or the relation between Song and NCSoft, there must have been some internal issues just because most of the development crew followed him.
I really hope that no HUGE
I really hope that no HUGE changes come about... Negative changes... I dont want to lose the traditional feel of lin...
I agree I bet they have no
I agree I bet they have no idea what happens in lineageone for the US. They are just waitting for it to die. I am sure they do mane $$ off of us. Due to lack of staff we have its hard not to make any Cash of 3000 players at 15$ a month

Imo Lineage 1 will never
Imo Lineage 1 will never die...its just too addictive i been on and off too many times to count
and still i return to the game aint nothin wrong with the game as it is right now as i see it only major problem is the damm bots/3ed party program users but then again there are probably alot of problems that im not aware of but then again aint thats the issue with all games ?
ya, i been playing for
ya, i been playing for 10years on and off and still end up comming back, after 4months im coming back again. 3rd party programs and bots is a problem with every mmorpg so dont get to upset with it. Ya it sucks, ya thre might be better ways of dealing with it, but for now we just have to accept that bots are around and will be as long as there mmorpg.
wow i never knew jay song
wow i never knew jay song quit o.o

The sad thing is I remember
The sad thing is I remember reading the interview from the new CEO in regards to current NC games and Lineage 1 never even entered the discussion. I get the feeling Lin has become the shunned ******* child that NC never speaks of...
Wait...What??
Being a Mac user I hope
Being a Mac user I hope truly they expand some development on that end we are hampered with lag and other issues that need addressing there are alot more Mac users now that they came out with so many new products. Imagine an iphone that you could play Lineage one on..... to cool. B
I played Lineage 2 and had a
I played Lineage 2 and had a great time (Will probably pop in and out on occassion). I played WoW, and it was alright.
But Lineage gets in your blood.
I could talk about teleportation systems and the PvP system and the variety of bosses and the clan houses and the weddings., but the reality is something indescribable. Just think of all the memories you have. The laughter. The dropped items. The friends come and gone.
I can remember when LoA first opened--how crowded the new player areas were. It was ridiculous. But it was great and hilarious too. There was a real feel of something building.
NC could still make a fortune off this game if they promoted it. I'm willing to bet that the way I feel is the way a lot of people do.
Lineage is my only
Lineage is my only choice.
All the other games 3d stuff makes me sick...
I will just be so crushed if they let this game go.
I really do think we should all send in letters telling the big wig how much we love lin1.
Coming back to it last year was crazy, it took me weeks to even track it down.
Every link just took me to lin2.
For awhile I was sure lin1 was gone.
:(
it is very hard to see how they can keep this going if they are NOT ADVERTISING it on even thier own web site.
