it is rumored to drop from DK and dragons, but it did drop a lot from a boss event we had. i have seen prices as high as 500m for +7 fire sword of DK.
good luck finding one for sale thou.
and yes it is a top weapon for knights. the only problem i have found is that it gets damaged.
ohh i forgot the magic attack from the weapon is considered fire magic. so GMR and Fire MR does reduce the damage from it. otherwise its better than a +9 tsu @ +7 and weighs 1/3rd that of a tsu
Damn 500m is pretty
Damn 500m is pretty insane...have to start saving pennies haha

I personally prefer +9Maphr
I personally prefer +9Maphr Ret over +7DK Sword.
For two reasons...
Maphr Ret is half the price and craftable and easier to find, and cranks out damage like its nobodies business. It never rolls low values because its damage range is much higher average than other swords due to the +11damage bonus. When I first got mine I felt like a DE with the damage I was doing. +9Ret rolls between 20-24 base damage (Average 22 base, but never hits below 20). +7dk sword rolls between 10-26 base damage (Average 18 base, but can hit for 10.). Both weapons have crits that hit hard. I have critted with Ret for over 150. (Someone please correct my calculations if they are incorrect)
Second reason would be ease of switching weapons in PvP for using stun. Already wielding a two handed weapon makes it that much easier to switch to another two handed sword for stun and then switch back... Instead of balancing removing the sword and the shield, switching and stunning, then putting back on the sword and shield.
There are downsides...
Loss of AC from shield, loss of RKset bonus if you use RKset (I dont.)

I think I messed up on the DK sword damage calculation... I think its lower than that?

I also think Ret is a cool
I also think Ret is a cool weapon , but i cant stand the ac loss. another factor in the debate is your level . for me its totally worth it to have the dk sword with my level its +7 damage bonus, str bonus +6, enchant weapon +2 ( more if use bw ) then the sword enchant of +7 (16/10 +5 to hit +2 damage).
so for me its range is 25-41 on small with the potential of the magic attack. also to note the magic attack goes off more on mops than it does players and less so on NPC's, i dont think i would invest that kind of adena in a weapon if i were like lev 55 and under. there are plenty of choices in weapons. all depends on your hunting style and places you hunt.
With your level/stats the
With your level/stats the +9ret would do 35-39. Still better than the DK sword in my opinion. Another factor however is crit rate, DK sword is slightly higher I believe. The reason I like Ret tho is you dont have to worry about Crits to crank out good damage, because it does it without the crits. Crits are just an added bonus.
But I still cant figure out why, other than rarity, that DK is worth 250-300mil more.

Im not much of a knight
Im not much of a knight anymore, but ppl on LoA like the Dk sword for its hit. and of course the crit
I remember someone telling me they got a +7 for around 435m or so(a few weeks after event)
and recently i have heard it is fetching more then 550m on LoA

So as far as reasonably
So as far as reasonably priced knight wep. (200m or less) maphr ret is gonna be choice?

For under 200mil... +8-9Ret
For under 200mil...
+8-9Ret if you dont mind the loss of shield.
+8-9Paagrios Hatred -- A step up from a TSU with an added magical attack.
+9Btsu
The main thing about knights though, is one weapon isnt enough. You need a weapon for hard skinned, a weapon for large undead, a weapon for small undead, a weapon for large, a weapon for small, a weapon for demon...
Before I got Ret I used this set of weapons.
+9btsu for small/pvp/demon
+9bkat for large/demon
+9shamshir for small undead
+9sls for large undead
+9dama for hard skin
+9 2hPksword for stun
With the +9ret, I use Ret for everything but small undead, which I use the shamshir for, and still the 2hs for stuns.

I did this a while back,
I did this a while back, lists base damage for most knight weapons without adding in str/lvl/buffs bonuses:

Comment

+9 Thor's Hammer
1 handed
7/12 +3 to hit
10-16 dmg/10-21 dmg

overall +7 to hit
avg dmg 13.5/14

You can't hit for .5

Bowgun, I was using a Thor's hammer for a while on large but I think when u lvl up unless you add to str it's good to stick with bow because of the dmg bonuses elf gets that are ranged attack only, I may go fire with the new spells though I dunno. My connection has been bad for the past year or so but I just got it sorted out recently so I can finally try out some of the harder areas that i've missed out on so far

So what does a +9 Maphr's
So what does a +9 Maphr's Ret go for on LoA? Seems like it would be a fortune.
As a mage the knights I fear
As a mage the knights I fear most at sieges are those with a DK sword. The retribution does a lot of damage, but it's consistent and predictable and I can keep up with it by standing on lesser heal. The DK sword on the other hand does less consistent damage, but back to back crits or crits on 2 out of 3 or 4 swings even, is generally an instant venz.
As far as typical huntings goes ... I couldn't tell you. I'll let the knights handle that.
Curious, have you ever had a
Curious, have you ever had a 'real' knight beat on you with a Ret? (Just for comparison sake I mean, because the DK sword knights wailing on you are str/dex knights. Of course they hit hard.)
Most knights I know use DK sword in siege. I am the only one I know of that uses Ret in siege (I am sure there are more however.) Those same knights however, dont ever use Stun.
And I would not classify myself as a real knight. I dont hit hard, even with the best of weapons. My knight is set up for Defensive purposes, so I was just hoping you werent basing the comparison off of the damage I do to you, because that would be a flawed comparison. If that isnt the comparison, then ignore this. =)

That's an interesting
That's an interesting concept. What does it mean to be set up for defensive purposes? You mean Con? Or is there some other finagling involved? What benefits does it offer?

Basically what Prom said. My knight, unlike most knights of old (though it does appear to be a trend in knights of new,) is con/dex/wis based. Dex is both offensive and defensive stat.
The best DE's I know are also set up defensively.
There is no point in cranking out big damage, if you cant stand and tank it as well.

hmm for some reason that
hmm for some reason that gives outa double meaning...
but what i wanted to say is .. if you can push out dmge like krazy, and make them KO or venz before you do, then you dont need to worry about defense as much.. but you also need to make sure u never become the prime target and try to stay in the shadows until you need to strike so to speak..
which is what im assuming is meant by glass cannon thingy..
..:: My Blog ::..
It's a metaphor, not of my
It's a metaphor, not of my own creation. A cannon outputs a lot of damage--let's just say you wouldn't want to stand in front of one. And glass is fragile, easily shattered. Therefore, the metaphor suggests, as you seem to have figured out, that you tune your character to output high damage in lieu of being able to receive high damage.
The first character I ever had on LoA was my INT/CHA mage. While I was leveling my other characters, if someone messed with me, I would sneak up to them and nuke the crap out of them while my 4 summons beat on them. They always venzed. Always. And then they'd leave me alone.
Had they stayed to fight, and actually got to me, I probably would have been dropped like a shot because that character's HP are so low. But people fear the cannon and never see it's glass.
But in a siege where there
But in a siege where there are many people targeting you... The glass effect will be seen and exploited long before you get your cannon off hehe.

No doubt. But I've never
No doubt. But I've never participated in a seige. Mostly, I'm a quiet hunter who likes a good laugh. My PvP experience has mostly been of the "Chase that griefer off" sort. You can't beat the glass cannon for that sort of thing.
that maybe the case on Ken
that maybe the case on Ken but on LoA when thier are many ppl on the screen, you dont always find who you are looking for.
especially when the enemy uses the same morph for melee(for eg 55 knight) and same morph for mage (for eg 55 mage or even 45 dark elder)
but of course if u have a dedicated prince using that tru target.. then thats a lil different :P

This item is a bit pricey. Anyone has an idea on how I can raise the money faster? It will take about 2 months to do it on my own. Maybe I should ask my 14 year old son to help. He's such a better player. I actually took my character from him.

Kurtz sword is also good !! Only one on Dep ATM and does pretty well. The person who currently has it is level 51 and regularly beats knights 5-8 levels higher than him in duels.
