HELP ON ELF! Part 2

hey guys I just want to thank all of you who have took their time to write on my post. All the info was a great help.

I decided to make a con elf and have lvled to 45 so far. My gears are as following:

+7k-xbow
+8boe
+8e-ts
ALA
+7cop
+7p-g (I had this from my old DE that I have not sold yet... probably won't sell itsince I will be going fire when I hit either 50 or 51..)
+7i-boot
Vigor set

total ac with shield spell and b-armor comes out to -65

I'm currently using wind line till I switch to sword.
Anything I should do to change my gear? I love the bow but some people are telling me to change to +8bow gun and use a shield to raise my ac to I guess -75 with a +8es

What should I do? sell my kxbow to get a bowgun? will it be a big difference in dmg wise?
I hunt toi 34 alot and I seem to be killing pretty fast with the kxbow.

Any flow you guys see on my gear? Any advice will be great.
Toi 34 seems to be a good spot for me to hunt due to almost never having to use pots, mops die super fast, usually before they reach me if I triple shot. Any better place I can be hunting? I would like to try FI but not sure of How I should hunt there... I see water line elves soloing around FI but can I go at lvl 45 and wind line? If i can, what part of FI?

Thanks in advance =)

I think if you are killing

I think if you are killing fast with that k-bow...then keep going. Why not just save up and get a bg later.
About the fi soloing thing...best spot is in the bb area. I just sort of inch around. It helps to get to know people hunting in the area...chances are they are fi vets...Yogita told me they saved her butt more than once!

I think 34f is the place to be for leveling elves. As far as k-xbow vs bg, if you are killing mops before they reach you, I don't think you need the extra ac . But, it always helps to have more ac when you are swarmed. I think it is a matter of hunting style and personal preference.

Damage wise kxbow>bg but

Damage wise kxbow>bg but price wise +7kxbow is about the same as a +8bg. At least on DEP.

Thanks guys for the

Thanks guys for the feedback

Bracer would be better in general but the reason why I didnt sell the pg and buy a bracer is because I will eventually be going fire and like I mentioned, I'm not mising hits at the places im hunting... so i dont think bracer would really make a big difference. Also as for the ogre belt, I carrry 10 condensed clears each hunt... and I end up coming back with ever more potions.. So I kinda like the extra 3 ac and also the + to mana tick...

you can stay on the floor

you can stay on the floor longer..
and for crying out loud... you have b2s!

Sounds like your doing fine

Sounds like your doing fine to me. Yeah if your able to 34f without a major struggle then stick with what you have.

Something to consider is a

Something to consider is a Silver Cloak in place of the CoP. I have one for my elf and will never go back (granted it's reasonably well enchanted at +7), the MR and mp regen is a healthy boost over anything a cop might offer. I was also a strong proponent of the Vigor set for most purposes, but when I finally got an ogre belt that has changed (not because it's not still true). As much as I liked what the vigor set offered me, I simply cannot go back to the ultra-light hunting I used to have to endure. If vigor set ever adds troll belt weight reduction to its effect list my position might change though...

As for gloves, consider spirit gloves in place of PG (or NK gloves if you want AC more). A melee elf is going to use magic rather extensively in one fashion or another and the mp regen is of far greater value than the 1 str which may or may not even have any effect on your damage.

Wait...What??

hm any 50+ fire sword elves

hm any 50+ fire sword elves on here? I'm just very curious as to what kind of damage they are able to deal out with the 50+ buffs. Also if you can tell me what sword it was, that would be great.

i would belive asword would

i would belive asword would be the best once you have that fire buff

64 goin on 65 fire melee elf

64 goin on 65 fire melee elf here. +10 bkat is the best all around melee weapon. Asword is a solid pvp weapon but its random nature and it's less than stellar large damage (especially when paired with the previous problem) holds it back in any other application. If you could cast and sustain the new fire buff coming with ep6, asword might stand up well but the short duration, non-trivial mp cost, and sgem usage makes that an unlikely outcome.

All that being said, you made the right choice getting a solid ranged weapon. Melee elves are NOT in high demand for any damn thing. Forget boss hunting or anything close to that level of action. You just aren't wanted or needed. A lesson that is still painful even now for me.

Wait...What??

you would be a pretty damn

Prominence's picture

you would be a pretty damn good hunt partner at 50f if you are able to have 100mr and 100fire

Been there and tried that,

Been there and tried that, and no not really. Don't get me wrong, you can contribute but your primary value is in a melee buff, something that just is NOT the first line of attack up there. You need to be water and falldown stuff to really get a decent dmg from VT (they all have some pretty solid MR so you're not usually getting good dmg/healing per cast) so that isn't so hot. Ultimately all you are left with is a buff that requires someone put their *** on the line to get any use from. That and it is far far easier and more effective to snag an equal level wind/water/earth elf to hunt up there. Water for healing, wind for damage (both from bow and from falldown for LS) or earth for fight control with ebind. In case it isn't evident already, this puts fire far behind the other lines when it comes to value.

Lastly, when it comes to actually doing melee yourself in those types of scenarios (ie lots of splash/aoe damage going around)...most groups would rather you didn't. Having to heal just one person can get taxing enough...having to heal a second person just isn't appealing.

I've come to accept that, while I can hold my own reasonably well under most circumstances, my group value (and thus high-end content in Lineage) is negligble at best. Which might explain why I've also seen very little of it, let alone more than once.

Wait...What??

Same here Fean. I always carry my sayha just incase..... But I do love fire, it just limits me :(
I have, of late, been a bit depressed about lack of ppl to hunt with and have come to the realization = it's because I am a fire elf :(

So, are you going to make me a +10bkat to replace my precious asword? :p

Why invest in another bow if

Jesy's picture

Why invest in another bow if you will use sword in a few levels?
I am con fire elf and yes, asword rocks on almost every hunt!
If anything, invest in a few swords like sls and cutlass.
You're doing great! Knew you'd love con elf :)

Actually, it seems that the

Wiffenpoof's picture

Actually, it seems that the only kind of elf in demand is water. I'm wind or earth (depending) and I'm not really wanted or needed in boss hunts either. It's a solo life for me for the most part.

Wind and earth are specialty

Wind and earth are specialty lines (like fire) that are useful under specific conditions...which are not met very often or in very many places (wind and fire are also in opposition to one another, good in places where the other sucks).

Water's demand is in NB, because it's an "anywhere, anytime, everywhere, everytime" spell that never really goes out of style, no matter what you are hunting or where you are hunting it. Sucks for anyone that's not water any way you slice it.
