Depends on how you wanted to
Depends on how you wanted to play your elf.
Most melee elfs are Con (should go fire)
Most bow elfs are dex
(con elfs ok for bow just try using dex items) Wind is really good for you if u using a bow and even better if you go Con and use bow.
Good thing about Con elfs is you can play them both ways as long as you suite them the correct way
and the more you look at the games new episodes the more you notice you need high Hit points.
I dont play a elf but I know many who do and most of them all Con.
Never explain. Your friends do not need it and your enemies will not believe it anyway.
For me it comes down to this
For me it comes down to this ...
How much are you going to play?
How long are you going to stick with the character?
What do you want to get out of the experience?
The hitpoints on a con elf are great.
The high level spells on an elf are event better.
Having both is the best possible situation.
I chose a dex elf because they level faster and I have limited time to play. I wanted to get the level 50 spells. I would like to have the hitpoints a con elf has, but not if it meant giving up my level 50 spells because I have not been able to level yet.
you could be a cha elf and
you could be a cha elf and still solo all those places.. u just need items and level
My Dream elf:
I would create a base wis elf..
add a few points to wis(to 21), Level 53 (w/ that +3wis spell it goes to 24)
then max out int(to 25) , Level 65
then try to max out dex , Level 70 = 17dex
so at Lvl 70 = Wis21 Int25 Dex17
so at Lvl 75 = Wis21 Int25 Dex22
so at Lvl 78 = Wis21 Int25 Dex25
So once ur like 75+.. ur gona be pretty unstoppable (esp w/ all the hp items out thier)
and as the saying goes.. Aim for the Stars, if you fail, at least you land on the moon :P

The best all around is still
The best all around is still a bow elf, and the most versatile type of elf is a con elf. Yes, this is a melee elf saying this. A con elf can be both bow or melee as the situation requires, a dex elf however is at a rather extreme handicap in the melee arena because of their lower hp pools.
As for best all around being bow. Well...that has more to do with the fact that so many places just are not melee friendly, especially for an elf. Another important factor is that when you have dedicated healers for a group hunt, your melee adventures will further tax their mp (too much AoE!), something they are not likely to be happy with.
Wait...What??
This comes up a lot, but it
This comes up a lot, but it seems to me that people tend to overstate the importance of CON. Yes, hit points are great. But there are arguments on both sides.
If you go CON, it will take you longer to max your STR or your DEX or your INT or whatever you would invest your points in.
People always assume they're going to make level 80 and go CON. Most people quit before 53.
This person wants to hunt. It doesn't specify boss hunting or sieges. HP might not be that important.
That's true. Con health
That's true. Con health pools are mostly for PvP, Seiges and Bosses (and surviving the areas they are found in). If you're just looking to hunt smaller stuff (relative to your level) there's nothing wrong with being dex. Just get used to the reduced carrying capacity and being pretty much locked into using a bow. Which...is sort of a given with an elf.
Wait...What??
Sort of have to side with
Sort of have to side with Chryses here in that it all comes down to what your end goal is...if you intend to level well past 50, then by all means go con (and this is a voice of experience, as I have leveled both a dex elf and a con elf fairly high), because if your end game is hitting levels above 60, you can never make up those lost hit points. I think a lot of it has to do with gear and where/how you hunt...I never really thought of my con elf as being slow to level, but he started with pretty solid gear from my first elf. One tip...as soon as you can afford it, equip your con elf with a bowgun (+5 hit) and you will level fast enough.
As for melee...yes, its fun, and my very first elf was a con/sword elf (Shadarion back in Mac beta days as a member of Foundation BP), but remember, the built in level up bonuses to hit and damage for an elf are bow based, so if you go with a sword, you are giving that up...not a lot at low levels, albeit, but at level 60, that +1 per 10 levels starts to mean something.
Most important thing - don't over think it....just have fun! I leveled an INT elf to level 40 just for giggles...he turned undead in OWL almost as easily as a mage and was a blast to play. :)
