No News is Good News ... We Hope

Chryses's picture

Well, folks. I'm sorry there hasn't been much new content here lately. As you know, there hasn't been much new content in the game. That limits what we can bring you. You'll just have to trust us that the silence emanating from Austin, Texas, is a good thing as the NC team works hard to get Episode 6 out on the U.S. servers. I wish I could share more; but, well, I don't know any more than that.

So to bridge the gap, I thought I would try to start a discussion here to keep everyone entertained at work for a few days.

The topic?

Your fondest Lineage memory.

One day I was hunting and a bot started stealing all my mops... Being the bot that he was.

And I called a monitor. And the bot disappeared. And was never seen again.

Vigorous-Dep's picture

Back when I played my very first mage I hunted TI. I always asked random people to hunt with me around the island. I had 2 pets I used called Cheesewiz and Hampuff; Cheese was a doberman and Hampuff was a shepard. I remember I got 20% in an hour or 2 and I thought I was doing amazingly well. This was around the time I was level 20 or so, heh. Now that I think of my first mage, ElvenMageXX, what a long road I've taken. I'm now a level 51 mage, at 55% right now :P Almost DK!

Ohhhh another fond memory!

Ohhhh another fond memory! Back when TPC was around, a few of us were so bored we filled Heine castle with chickens, hens, pigs, cows, gremlins, and Eidolons :D

I remember starting on dep,

Khalido's picture

I remember starting on dep, knowing it was pvp but not knowing when you could pvp. So when I made my elf and went to hidden valley, a knight started hitting me and I freaked not even noticing that he was doing no dmg lol. So he chased me all around HV cuz I thought he was going to kill me ;) Ah the good ol' days ^_^

My job kept me on the road

My job kept me on the road from Sunday afternoon through Friday evening. Lots of lonely nights sitting in a hotel room away from family and friends.
A client introduced me to Lineage 8 years ago. Those 8 years are full of many "fond memories." Some are little, some big, some good, and even some are bad. But most importantly, I was rewarded with a "second family" and quite a few new friends, many of whom I still hold dear.
So, I guess my fondest memory of them all, is the one when I think of the Lineage Community as a whole made up of all those individuals -- pledge mates, hunting partners, and even just global chat acquaintances. Sadly though, it also brings to mind those we have lost through the years death -- r/l and cyber.
And now that I think on it all, I thank the Community for taking the time to make those nights less lonely and keeping me out of the bars and away from one-night or one-project stands.

Now, the funniest memory, was the night that Ell was laughing so hard he mistook background trees for mops and attempted to end them, AND several of us EBOers almost died while hunting because we were laughing so hard we couldn't even see to use the keyboard or mouse. I couldn't tell you who said what, but 8 pledge mates winging one-liners to beat the band for an hour made me step away from the box in tears with a pain in my side from laughing so hard.

Mine is the Giran siege that

Mine is the Giran siege that everyone on entire dep server showed up for. It was half the server against half the server and it rocked on my stereo system. 900 person siege is crazy. Ah those were the days...

Running will only make you die tired...

I'm going with a few

Valerius's picture

I'm going with a few here....first, many years ago (in a galaxy far, far away...oops, wrong game) several of us decided we would go look at a dragon, as we had never seen one. I was playing my first character in those days, a level 49 con elf named Shadarion who was born in Mac beta days, and I may well have been the highest level character in our "party" and was leading the way. Anyway, about 15 peeps from Foundation and West Knights made the pilgrimage to see Antharas, and low and behold, as we are filing into the corridor, there he was...IN the corridor. Now, peeps behind are still coming down the stairs as those of us up front are scrambling to turn around. Boom...off goes Anth's first breath weapon - suddenly the corridor is very quiet and I quickly realize that out of seven or eight of us that didn't make the stairs, I am the only one still standing. Naturally, being more brave than bright, I actually hit Anth right on the snout...once (and only once), and then was chastised for my impudence! LOL! Tsepesh (lying dead on the ground already) was laughing hysterically as Anth proceeded to SIT on my corpse, leaving only my head sticking out (of his ass). It was the most fun death I have ever had, and hey, at least I landed a blow! :)

The others involve poly groups...the bugbear conga line at Giran X, a seven dwarfs invasion of DI (yes, seven Foundation peeps pollied as regular dwarfs marching merrily along and SINGING), oh, and let us not forget some of the early pledges/characters/players and sieges. Some of those very early sieges were hysterical...I'm talking about the days when any kind of uber item, including even an ROPC was rare as all Hell, so it made life interesting and often creative! Anyway, lots of fun, lots of great peeps over the years.

Nice thread! Hmm my best

Nice thread!
Hmm my best memory has got to be playing for the first time in Mac Beta as a newbie elf (Chimaera) prancing about under Mother Tree talking to other elves and dying to anything that moved (such as ents and pans - ouch) even wild boars and slime lol. Oh and seeing a human knight for the first time blocking the path to Nerupa and killing us newbs and some high level elves (well, everyone else was HIGHER level) taking them out made me so proud to be an elf in some sort of post-tolkien rapture.

Oh and certainly meeting other fellow newbies and racing to get our names to a "cool blue" status was fun! And breaking out of the forest with them to get mauled by filthy orcs and arachnevils into the "big world out there", where we met (woot surprise) nice human newb knights and taming dobermans south of kent bridge (well, it was tough to say who was taming whom, we ending up running from them half the time and dying before we could reach the bridge into Kent hahaha).

I think it was definitely the smallest things that brought back the best memories for me hehe :D:D
Everything else after that could be summed up in one ominous mono-syllabic word: GRIND. :P

Memories.... so many, but my

Jesy's picture

Memories.... so many, but my favorite was February 3, 2005.
The day I married Molindar ;)

Actually, each of my chars have a special memory attached to them.
My marriage is my elf fav but my knight, Kachina ..... diff story entirely as she was my first char and my fondest memory with her was the day she saw a Royal getting beat on by BKs in SKT and helped him. (not sure he needed it lol) Turned out to be Prince Destion, a Ring Royal.
He thanked me and asked if I'd like to join his BP but I told him I was trying to get to level 30 so I could join TIRION Earth Rings BP led by Princess Viviane. He asked me to go to town and Viv was there and she let me join at level 27 and titled me "Loyal" It was the begining of an amazing journey.

My mage, her best memory was being a newb mage in OWL hunting with SuiYing (unsure of spelling)
another mage in BP. Ying showed me many things and although Lillie is still a sucky mage, I will always remember Ying being a friend.

My Royal, well, her fav memory was doing level 15 and 30 quest. She had 2 EBO alts in her BP and she had a blast doing those quests. v ET & Chork.

Thanks for this thread Mr. C.
I love good stories about ppl in game :)

I have several... my chronic

Wiffenpoof's picture

I have several... my chronic favorite memory was hunting with Issa, chatting and laughing. She and I would hunt almost every day. It was the easy way to gain xp... I never even noticed the time because we were having fun.

Hunting on 4x with a bunch of pledgemates and Issa saying "Uh oh! Dragon!" every time she would see one... followed by the day we did DVC 6 instead and Issa wanted to go into Anth's lair, not believing us when we told her he was in the game... next thing we hear on TS is "Uh oh. Dragon." We waiting while she came back down to the 6th floor after restarting. Actually, we had no choice but to wait... we were laughing so hard, we were crying.

When Issa died, it was probably the worst time I have remembered... and then there was the Issa Memorial Dragon Hunt. "I see dead people." "I've fallen and I can't get up." It was a great tribute to a great and unselfish player and person.

And... my wedding many years ago... when everyone (including the bride because the groom was wearing white) polied into cows. *laugh*

I still miss you, Issa. Lin hasn't been the same since you logged off.

I have two at the

Chryses's picture

I have two at the moment.

The first is kind of an inside joke, but I think some people can relate. Back in the Mac beta days we used to do pledge hunts in south TI, getting VERY excited when we would get a btele drop. There was an elf in the pledge named Myron who noticed that when his hitpoints got low and he yelled "heal!" two or three spiders would come out of nowhere. So whenever the spawn got bad (yeah, it's not a new phenomenon) he would start yelling "heal!" I'll be damned if it didn't usually work.

The second is the Kent siege back years ago when Design Dragon pretty much owned Ken server. We had managed to break through and take it in final minutes the week before. We moved the time back to prime time. I swear ... 90 percent of the server was at that next siege. I'm not sure at that point Design Dragon had EVER not won a siege when they really wanted to win. In the final minutes when they were making their last push it was one of those siege moments when for a solid 10 minutes it was just arrows and eruption spells everywhere ... making everyone lag. The best part was we won ... and it was the first time since I had started sieging that I saw no matter how much the odds are stacked against at one point, the tide will turn.

That Kent siege against DD

That Kent siege against DD is one of my fondest Lineage memories, too. Remember HERC (highest lvl knight at the time) in dark elf morph?

I do remember that, but what

Chryses's picture

I do remember that, but what really sticks with me about that siege is IronClaw.

You had all of this EBO members there with their bows then you had IronClaw right in front of all of them, sword in hand, shouting out orders. Was very, very cool.

Great Thread! 1. Just being

Great Thread!

1. Just being a newb and having no knowledge of the game wandering around the elven forest lvling. Sitting around waiting for the fairy queen and chatting. I still remember my first journey to Kent. I was so nervous I would die.

2. My first enounter with Dark Elder. I wandered into dragon valley and he spawned right in front of me for a 1 hit kill.

3. My first Hunt on 30f v.v It was so fun. Seeing all those iffys I was shaking in my boots. Then we found Vamp and he ended me lol. I was the only one to die in the party but we got a 31f charm!! My split was 11m. I thought I was so rich and that my gear would be so uber from that score.

o luvly! fondest

Ah memories, I go so many ,

LadyCrystael's picture

Ah memories, I go so many , hard to choose betwn just 1 or 2 for that matter. :)
Well I guess the 1st good memory I had was when I had recently closed down my r/l business and had been at home without anything to do, and my son asked me to watch his character for a few minutes, while he got himself something to snak on.
I told him i dont think I can do this game thing...
What happens if your character gets attacked while youre in the kitchen?
my son: Aww, Mom, its simple...
If one of them alligators comes over and attacks my char, all you have to do is clik the left mouse button, and my mage and his shepards will do the rest.
(He had 2 shepards and was on Losus Island at the time.)
2nd: Becoming a leader of a large alliance,
3rd: Taking Hiene castle and holding it for 34 days. (NC where is my tshirt, lol.)
4th: Being nominated for Player of the year.
5th: Finally geting LC to level 49.
And last but not least: Finding that there are some really kewl people from all over the world brought together in a game called Lineage & some of them have become really good friends, over the last 6 years! :)
Thx Chyrs for the memories...
be well & merry be :)

Making elven shields, then

Making elven shields, then walking to Gludio, getting the boat to TI and selling them to Pandora!

Excellent cash to be made!

I may be wrong in my

I may be wrong in my remembering, being old and dotard-like. But, IronClaw was not prince of Elven Blood Order, was he? IronClaw was prince of Elven Way, the junior lower level elves. I think he was my royal during that siege, or maybe not. Elven Way and Elven Blood Order sorta have run together for me after all this time.

What I do remember is IronClaw gathering every single Aden-dwelling elf at the Mother Tree, haranguing us about taxes, inequities, freedom, and then marching us off to that siege...was not just the pledge members. That was my first time to participate in a siege. Man, was that intense! I still show friends and family the screen shots.

But, my favorite memory of Iron is the night he talked ET and me (both lvl 3x something) into accompanying him to Orctown. He then declared, and told us to take care of the guards and anyone else who came by to harass him. He, himself, knocked down the tower. In less than 15 minutes, the 3 of us had taken Orctown. Every once in a blue moon, I go by and just look at that place and remember ET screaming and running one way, while I screamed and ran the other, guards in hot pursuit, archers shooting us from the walls, Iron calmly walking up to that tower...

But, speaking of princes and sieges. No reminisce would be complete without mentioning ol "Siege Every Night"...Ramada. Ram never saw a castle he knew he couldn't siege. One night we lay siege to both Kent and Heine. Man, that was fun! And confusing, since I think they overlapped!

Ah, and now, a whole flood of memories of people has been let loose...

To echo mom, thanks for this thread Mr C.

Oh, man. Thanks for sharing

Valerius's picture

Oh, man. Thanks for sharing that! I hadn't thought about Ramada in a long time.

All of these threads have brought back memories, and reminded me how fun this game was when I first started. I came here from Dep at the end of the Mac Beta period, and in a lot of ways the most fun and challenging part of the game was surviving early with nothing. I clearly remember killing lizmen on liz beach and having to stand around and regen hit points because I didn't have money for pots. (I think that's why I have been kind to so many noobs over the years.)

I even remember the first person who ever talked to me (Rieyl) on Ken, beginning the first of many long-lasting friendships. We all play characters, but thankfully, the game has some real characters (Goat comes to mind immediately...LOL)...people that are just plain fun to hunt with or just chat with.

Anyway, thanks again for mentioning Ramada. It made me smile. And GREAT THREAD C.

Those were good times, too.

Chryses's picture

Those were good times, too. My wife would certainly disagree, though.

I remember setting my alarm to wake me up at 3:50 a.m. for a 4 a.m. siege. We would gather the forces in a Hall at the Giran Inn. Everyone would have a specific role for taking the castle. Once it was taken and the two-hour back and forth ensued, all the plans were out the window and it was just who could get back to the tower first.

Of course I would be remiss if I didn't mention those 4 a.m. sieges led to my dislike of the now defunct BOSS blood pledge. I remember they sieged with us for a long time. Then one night they gathered with us for the planning session for a 4 a.m. siege on Giran castle. We broke through the gates and got to the tower. Just as we were clearing people out of the tower to take it down, BOSS turned on us and combined with the Design Dragon forces just laid waste to everyone. I remember people not even fighting back. They would just heal until they flopped over in shock from being attacked by someone who had been fighting on their side and even participated in the planning for the siege. Nobody knew what was happening or what to do.

Good times.

LOL! I was hunting that

Valerius's picture

LOL! I was hunting that night and wasn't watching the siege, but I do remember the globals during that siege. Shock...dismay...utter chaos. And for those of us who were just watching global as we hunted, it was pretty damned funny, too.

Do you remember the time

Do you remember the time that Bobby Bouche' showed up at half-time and the Mudd Dogs won the bourbon bow!!??!?!?

Many fond memories. All of those are done now. I have quit live and will not be back (for a while at least). I have been playing steady since 2001. Prior to that was for a long run during beta. I just can't take it anymore!! Was fun everyone.

My favorite Lineage memory

cainna's picture

My favorite Lineage memory comes from right after Dark Elves came to into the game as a class.

Without coordinating our efforts at all, my EBO pledgemate Orcide and I, after getting our butts handed to us on a regular basis as elves in sieges, decided to lvl these new DE's we'd heard were fun and tough. So each of us, separately and completely unbenounced to each other, created anonymous pledgeless DEs the first day they came out, leveled them to 45 in 6 days, did all the quests, made +7 B-edos, put our nice gear from our elves onto our DEs then proceeded to attend every seige and kill everyone regardless of allegience or friendship. The funny thing is although we didn't know who the other person was until weeks later, we never hit each other, but we'd work together to kill the others and laugh about it to each other in whisper. Lol after about a week, people at sieges would stop fighting each other if we showed up and band together to try to kill us. Even better, this random mage saw what we were doing and would show up randomly to sieges and heal us to help, we found out later that it was our EBO prince. It seems that all of us were tired of being so damned respectable and wanted to be bad for a little while.

I still laugh when I think about all the whining and crying on global not only about being randomly killed, but also about how seriously we handed all the knights their arses. In fact, one lvl 54 knight after dueling my lvl 46 Str/dex/wis DE and losing pitifully actually quit the game.

As badly overpowered as DEs still are today, they were completely ridiculous when they first came out, untouchable and more powerful then u can imagine. I gotta say I enjoyed the hell outta abusing knights for once and anonymously creating such anarchy for awhile.
