So, I am now a level 24 wizard. I am new and unfamiliar to this game somewhat (been 6 yrs since i played) and I was wondering what the best route was for completing the level 15 wizard quest. Also, I was wondering if not completing this quest is preventing me from training any new spells. I have been unable to train my level 4, 5, and 6 spells. Is Gereng the right NPC for training my new spells?

If you need Ghoul Tooth and Nail then simply go to OWL, there where the bots hunt and pick those items up from the ground.
For the skull you need to hunt on your own or maybe a pledge mate is willing to help you with pets. I usually hunt Talking Island dungeon 1f and just tele around if I get swarmed.
No, you don't need to finish your lvl 15 quest to learn more spells but you need to finish it to start all later quests, like lvl 30 and lvl 45 quest.

How and where Do i learn my new spells then? I have a few of the spellbooks required but I'm not sure what trainer I need to go to.

I got how to get my lvl 4+ spells, but concerning the quest: they will just be lying on the ground? I have been running around for a while now and dont see too much on the ground. Whats it look like? Do I need to make sure I have accepted the quest? Is there a quest log? I talked to the woman "jem" and she told me to bring her the items but is that enough for me to be able to obtain the items?

Nopes, there is no quest log, but you can obtain the quest items for level 15 mage quest by just killing the ghouls and skeletons regardless you have obtained the quest or not. So basically you just gather the required items and take them to Jem when you have them.
If you went to look for the ghoul tooth and nail from OWL (Oren wasteland) they can be difficult to spot from the ground. They are quite tiny things in there. You could run around there in dwarf poly holding down the f4 (hotkey to pick up items on ground) and you might be lucky enough to run by one of those items. But like I said in the post, you can alternatively try to hunt for those parts by yourself.
The skeleton skull does not drop on the ground if I am right and you better be near the skeleton when it dies to get the skull. This might have changed over time tho and maybe someone can confirm if they now drop on the ground too. The skeleton skull is white skull on the ground as at least with pets it can be end up to the ground when restarting.
Also just to notify, it can take quite long to get those quest parts to drop. It's based totally on your luck and sometimes it might thus take ages to get all the parts required for that quest. Just don't give up and hopefully it does not get too frustrating for you. Good luck!

Yup, what Coronis said about the quest. Also mainland cave is good for the skull, or then you can go to wasteland (above Gludin) or small wasteland (above entrance to mainland cave, belov Kent and above Woodbec) to kill the skeletons for the skull. But the ghoul's tooth and nail you will likely find laying on the ground in Oren wasteland where bots has left them or then you can just hunt for them youself example in wasteland while hunting for the skull too.
What comes to spells, Gereng only sells the first three levels of books. You can find selection of higher level books from two Ivory Tower NPC merchants, so I suggest visiting there at some point. You might also get many from pledge members as some of those lower level books drops a lot in differend places. The level 4 and higher level books differ from the first three levels in the way that you have to learn them in the temples or in Ivory Tower after obtaining the book. Just make sure you learn the right kind of book in right kind of place. Neutral spells you can learn in Ivory Tower or either kind of the temples. Lawful spells you have to learn in lawful temple (temple of Einhasad, found in elven forest and another one right from Kent) and chaotic spells in chaotic temple (temple of Gran Kain, found in Orc forest and another in wasteland down from Kent). It is important that you do not try to learn example chaotic spellbook in lawful temple as you will be zapped with lightning and you have good chance the book will be destroyed. Go in the correct place and double click the book in your inventory to learn the spell.

I've always done both ghoul
I've always done both ghoul and skeleton part of quest in wastelands north of gludio, its the safest area to kill skeletons and ghouls in my opinion.
and as for training spells, tav covered it will, a good note on the side of that though, is many teleport NPCs have teleport to lawful and chaotic temple so it is easier to get to them now.. don't remember which Tele ladys all have it, only one I remember for sure is oren.

Skeleton skull definitely drops to the ground if you aren't in range of getting it, the southeast/east part of wasteland north from Gludio is decent spot to hunt it or ti caves is where I usually go.
For the ghoul nail/tooth OWL run around and pick em off the floor, best time to do this is mondays/tuesdays rather than thursdays/fridays as the wednesday reset wipes all items off the floor and takes a while for things to start cluttering the floor up again

as for the quest i would hit owl and find the ghoul nail and tooth on ground "be sure you are pollied " then try the caves on talking island for the skel skull. good luck

I have a new question now though :-) I am getting nearer and nearer to level 28 now. I have been looking forward to Summon and wanted to know the best way to obtain the spellbook was. I know back in the day it was quite a valuable book and wanted to know if that was still the case. Also, whats the best way to get Magic Gems?

Best way for your level
Best way for your level character is to buy the Summon book from other players. It is not nearly as valuable anymore as it used to be and you can get it for few kilo adena from players or very likely someone can even donate you the book. Example succunuses in DVC drop them pretty regularly. The only problem is that elekkadoms, succubuses and cyclops are hugely hunted by bots and it's stick in bottom to try and go hunt those areas yourself.
Same thing goes for magic gems. They do not drop anymore and you have to craft them with alchemists from relics you can obtain either from gem gambling or black blood stones. Black blood stones are again semi rare drop from few monsters that are again hugely dominated by bots. You get them from example cerberuses (Giran cave & Silver Knight Town Cave) and Living Armors (Ivory Tower) and some few higher level monsters, but at least the places with cerberuses are overrun by bots: pretty much unhuntable areas for legit players.
So what is left is you can either go and try to hunt living armors in Ivory Tower unless it's also overrun by bots now or then buy them for good amount of adena for your level character :-/

That sounds like it will be a lot of "fun" to get the gems. On the subject of the book, how do i get my message out that I need one if i can't use global chat yet? Should i just check the Trade Zones (which are still a bit confusing to me as they are new to me)? Would it be better for me to just hunt with dogs or something? I have about 200,000Adena at the moment because a generous player decided to give me a little boost for coming back. Will that get me the book and maybe some gems to last a while? I am on LoA.

That will get you the book and some gems sure enough, summon isn't really worth using until at least lvl 40 really though, as using summons slows down your xp gain because the summons steal some xp and the 28-36 summons aren't all that strong

Right now I am using a +4t-s that the same guy let me use. Other than that my other items are rather embarassing. They are as follows:
+0 Helmet, +0Cotton Robe, 2x +0 Carnelian Ring (noobie rings, +4MP/HP), +0 Ivory Tower Leather Shield, +0 Staff of Sorcery, +0 Ivory Tower Leather Gloves, +0 Skeleton Boots.
I am using the boots to save money on haste potions. I was going to try and make a mage set (+50MP?) but i was told the gems are a little more sought after now.
Also, i was wondering what you thought was the best/fastest xp for a 28 mage. I currently fo to FV and kill eggs (get about 10% per mana pool). Then I go to Oren and use the inn to get mana back and go back to FV. Rinse and repeat.
