Diablo 3 Graphics-Engine for Lineage?!

Hi all,

some days ago I watched the Diablo 3 game play movie (see http://www.diablo3.com) and was just  impressed. I didn't expect to be that great but Blizzard proved once more that they know their business.

The Diablo 3 graphics engine is exactly what I was hoping to get for Lineage 1 when the rumor came up that NCSoft is working on a new client. Still isometric perspective but 3D models and environment which allow all sorts of details, smooth animations and cool effects. Image the combination of the D3-Engine with the current Lineage 1 content.

Last year there were some news about a possible new client for Lineage 1 but I never heard about it anymore. I'm sure, if NCSoft would improve the out-dated graphics engine  of Lineage 1, it would bring new life to Lineage 1.

Isometric 3D-graphics, 3rd person view without losing orientation like in 1st person RPGs like L2, a detailed and 'living' environment, detailed characters and monsters and finally a smooth scrolling instead the sluggish, choppy, eye hurting scrolling he have.

Come on NCSoft! The world is waiting for such an update! There are still millions playing Lineage 1 and more would join again if they improve the graphics engine like it is in Diablo 3.

The Diablo 3 Engine is sure

The Diablo 3 Engine is sure the state of the art and is superior to any other current engine but its all the details that makes we think: COOL.

The animations in the environment (clothes, waterfalls, rivers, dynamic light, etc.), a detailed map, you can see what weapon/armor you are wearing and all the other effects - all that together put you just deeper into the game atmosphere.

I'm sure I'll play Diablo 3 for a bit but I don't like the hack & slay style of the Diablo series. There are no pledges, no sieges, not much social interaction at all - in short nothing that will keep you play it for years.

I remember there was a short movie of the Lineage Forever engine some years ago - which looked promising but instead they developed more 1st person RPGs with all the bad things you get with this perspective (can't see what's behind you, can't determine distances, ugly object/ground/wall clippings, etc.)...

There are reasons why so many people still play Lineage - but its for sure not the graphics :P

If the graphics engine got

If the graphics engine got updated I wouldnt be able to afford the computer that would be able to run the game.

I already got screwed with Lineage 2's updated graphics.

the graphics arn't what

the graphics arn't what killed lineage, in fact alot of people have started playing lin partially because of the oldschool graphics, makes for a much cleaner well designed game than 3d mmos. The poor nc support / staff are what drive people away. All it takes is a week or two of playing and you realize how bad it really is and quit. I've met alot of new players in lineage and none of them have made it past a month.

I like the Lineage graphics

I like the Lineage graphics but in 2008 you can't attract anyone to play the game with such an engine. The D3-Engine offers not only improved graphics it also offers features like a mini-map and that without losing details because it's still fixed isometric perspective, like Lineage. You don't need a high-end system for such an engine, lower spec systems will not get all the glimmer and may look more like the current Lineage engine.

It's all the nice details in combination that makes the D3-Engine awesome, the simple control system, icons of your party members, mini-map, pure mouse control, living environment.
